    Ooo I love Gartner reports.....

    ..it's a great way of finding our what pointless bit of shit our directors will want, without knowing what it exactly is and how we will use it.

      What I get from this is that putting "smart" in front of naff ideas adds nothing to the description but gets you plenty of media hype and a big bump up the rising expectations curve. Now, how do I change my handle to "Smart Newt"?

    Well of abandonment

    Some of these technologies will simply plummet into the deep well of abandonment, rather than achieve any meaningful traction. Connected Home? It was a bad idea in the 1950s; it's an even worse idea today.
