I can't find 'C:\ProgramData' on my computer, so how can I protect myself against this complex and dangerous ransomware strain. link

Imagine someone's files get hit and are all encrypted with (presumably) the same key by ransomware.
However, they still have good copies of some of the files from (eg) a partial backup (e.g. original photo files still on their camera, etc), would they be useful in trying to crack the encryption?
