that price for what is really a pile of junk puts it in the area of a confidence trick

yes it runs android - which makes it useless as a real computer

the point I was trying to make was that for the same money you can buy something which has a real operating system and can do real computery things

    OLPC - Android

The one laptop per child project has been very successful, although this one seems to be over priced, which defeats the purpose.

OLPC has spawned Netbooks and the Pi.

Android is as functional as a PC OS (Windows, Linux, Mac OS). Can anyone tell me what its can't do?

        Re: OLPC - Android

        Actually yes it can.

A quick look and there are several windows emulators.

Best guess would be that they would be painfully slow though.

IIRC the orginal OLPC contained innovative ideas and technology to address the specific requirements of introducing computing to an environment that lacked reliable power & networking infrastructure. It then delivered those things at was at the time an ambitous target. This appears to offer a shitty piece of hardware with a gimmick that only addresses the concerns of a consumer based market found in the western world.

Bah, in the bin with it.
