    Going Postal ...

springs to mind. As does "Making Money"

Although in this case one wonders if the "angel" was bought. After all, I would hesitate to equate Havelock Vetinari to Vladimir Putin. Someone might raise an eyebrow at that

      Don't know.

Command of foreign languages - check.

What is the KGB if not the Assassin's Guild?

Belief in a system of government in which various power centres are played off against one another, but the ruler controls both the secret police (Vetinari's clerks) and the elite police - check.

Lady Margoletta von Uberwald - Bundeskanzlerin Frau Doktor Angela Merkel

Certainly comparing Putin to Havelock Vetinari is, if anything, complimentary. Vetinari is the only politician in the books, other than Brutha, who keeps his position while dragging his State into the modern era.

This is proving almost fruitful an analogy as the history of Germany in the last part of the 19th century, with Putin in the von Bismarck role.

I think I'll stay well away from Russia's National Payment System. Seems prudent. Once a spcammer, always a spcammer.

YMMV, but don't come crying to me when (not if!) you get bit.

unfortunately, dear comrade, while you, a dweller of free-world (see Ts&Ts) can shun the Russia's National Payment System, the people(s) of Russia can not, as there is no other.

When a poacher is given a job as gamekeeper he is normally expected to give up the poaching, not in Russia it seems.
