    "Search giant plugs cloud customers into its thrumming network arteries" - this conjures up images of customers playing guitars with strings made of bleeding blood vessels. Poor Google! Not an attractive image as lunchtime (awst) approaches...

    Machinery or beehives thrum, I would suggest. Arteries might throb.
