So when are netapp moving away from their snapmanager products and using simpanas? We all know it's coming and it was supposed to be announced in Feb but so far nothing.
One-trick software pony Commvault has finally pushed out a raft of updates with Simpana version 10.0 in the hopes of broadening its user base in the biz data backup, archive and search game. Simpana 9, the previous generation of the software, came out in October 2010 - so we've had to wait almost two-and-half years for gen 10 …
I am interested in knowing as well... Netapp?
NetApp has had SnapProtect in their offering for a year or so. SnapProtect is CommVault Simpana sold under the NetApp name and sold with controller based licenses, unless that's changed recently.
SnapProtect will handle application snapshots, so you don't need any more SnapManager installations.
I don't work for CommVault or NetApp.
Nice! so no more snapmanager tax? I can live with that.
