Interestingly...
the buyer was a brand new user, as was a couple of other users who put a bid in for it. A friend of mine suggested that it might have been EA themselves.
Copies of Activision's forthcoming FPS Modern Warfare 3 have been selling on eBay for staggering prices, with one auction ending yesterday at $1725. Earlier this week, Xbox versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 were available to buy from Kmart after the US retailer accidentally put them on shelves early. Many of those …
im sorry but this is down right disgusting this shows activision doesnt have respect for people who suffered in 7/7 or 911 so as far as im concerned they can ban this piece of junk. shown a scene with a mother and child get blown to bits is not right. its only a matter of time before mw3 gets all the kick off from politicians or mps as there also known. im suprised no one hasnt kicked off yet about it. mw2 did with its russian level where you open fire on civilians in a airport omg seriously. so activision can shove mw3 im not playing a game that represents real life disasters.
Here we go , any time there is any kind of violence under discussion, let's drag out the ghost of 7/7 and 9/11. Much the same as any kid of pornography brings on the cries of "Somebody think of the children.". Constantly banging on about those acts I think is more insulting to those who died. Those who died would rather be remembered for that time and place not constantly being linked to every tiny little violence related thing that people take a offence at.
Now don't get me wrong, yes they were horrendous but let's put those 5000 deaths into perspective. 30,000 people a year die in the US from gun related violence. Thats 6 times the amount as died in the towers, every single year. A one-off of act of terrorist aggression pales against the huge numbers of acts perpetrated by human beings to each other every single day.
These adult entertainment titles provide a way to connect to the violence with a safety net that you can easily turn it off and walk away if you wish. If you enjoy it so much you wish to carry on, then it provides a healthy release for those feelings. If you're that messed up in the head that a simulation sets it off, you were almost certainly messed up to start with and it was only a matter of time before the right trigger came along.
well, he will obviously not be able to mate with that woman anymore now that she is dead (she looks cute from behind, def good mating material that one.. always upsetting when some jerk who doesn't realise what these women things are for goes out and blows them to bits), and it's probably a bit upsetting to the evolutionary 'protect the kids at all costs' bit ingrained in our brains to see a wee kid get made into macaroni (I'm just guessing what happened to her, I assumed they both died horribly? activision appears to have taken offence to being youtubed).
and yes, a dog would be just aweful as well, after all we only keep them around because they are fuzzy with big eyes and have lots of the same qualities that makes us genetically disposed to like babies so much... we probably wouldn't be very upset at large lizards or gelatinous (but sentient and intelligent) beings being shot to smithereens.
On the other hand I guess we could try to fight these inbuilt instincts and allow our womenfolk out once in a while to vote or something, I don't know..
Either way I'm sure it was a contriversial and attention grabbing piece of video until activision decided that it had to be pulled :(
I guess I'll be upvoted by the pscycology majors who don't visit this site (so that would be zero upvotes then) and shunned for life by all the 'normal' folk who never stop to wonder why their brains make them do the irrational things that they do....
I'm conflicted now - I don't know whether your post is a clever parody (in which case nice work!) or you've genuinely strayed in from the Daily Mail comments section by mistake. Given the content, lack of punctuation and poor grasp of capitalisation either is possible, but regardless your post was most entertaining.
@mattyrasker Yup, precisely the same MO as the renta mob crap that ensures that outlets have queues for Windows and Apple product releases.
As regards the controversial clip.... Meh ! How is this any more controversial than anything else that goes on FPS games and especially "morally bankrupt" titles like GTA ? It isn't. MJI and Dead4ever should troll harder elsewhere.
One way in which this release should be an improvement on BF - easy. The COD titles have typically worked more less correctly since release day. Hackers and cheats affect all titles so not going to run on about them, but the core functionality on COD titles has usually been a lot more stable and dependable that BF where early bugs (and there were plenty in the last beta) were the order of the day.
Just thought that was unpleasant.
Nothing wrong with that -- just don't like killing things not out to get me.
I found the end of Farcry2 where you choose faction leader unpleasant as was killing the other mercenaries, but as soon as they started shooting - no problem.
When aliens/rogue human outposts ect start attacking I like those sort - just don't like the civilian killing type.
This entire story has the reek of PR & Marketing stamped all over it - nobody in their right mind is going to pay over £1000k for a game that will be released in a few days.
It's all part of the hype machine - stage an 'accidental' release, get a few on eBay, let the press do the rest.
... at least I hope it is... really, nobody could be dumb enough to shell out that much cash to get a game early, could they? ...
It's usually referred to as the July tube bombings in the UK media although 7/7 is fairly common, the phrase 'London Terror Bombing' could refer to most of these:

Replace Terror with Tube and you could mean any of these:

Sorry for the wiki, first hits on Google!
