back to article Giant iPhone 4 brings Mac OS X to the table

Check out this giant iPhone 4, a tabletop LCD system that runs OS X and Windows 7. It's a PS3 too. Benjamin Bachmeier’s iTableous borrows its look from the popular Apple handset and even opts for the sought-after white design. iTableous It puts a 5.7Mp HD camera and speakers in the same spots as the Apple hardware, as well …

Some serious passing off on trademarks here

He should expect a letter from the iLawyers shortly.

It's an art project, you berk...

      ...not a product.

Last time I checked, artists weren't being sued for including product likenesses in their work..

Actually, this looks very nicely done and is both bizzare and cool.

      Kudos to Herr Bachmeier!

      I wonder...

...if it stops working if you hold it wrong...

      Sorry. Couldn't resist... :)

      @AC

True, but u must admit that its a very cool bit of kit. Shame about the lack of multi touch though.

Yes, I am sure that Apples lawyers will..........

      ............table a motion shortly.

    5. Handle This

      Yes indeed

I would definitely become terminally confused between this and an actual iPhone - they are virtually indistinguishable. I am not in any way a fan of Apple (or any closed system), but: Way. Way. Cool.

      "look and feel"

...and "i" name, yep, he's in trouble now.

Unless his Jobness still retains some semblance of a sense of humour, in which case he may get away with it.

      Wouldn't space invaders

      count as prior art?

That had rounded corners and glass in front of the screen too!

    So, who's gonna sue first?

    Apple or Sony?

  3. advocate

    Runs OSX?

Unless Apple have agreed to it being run on this hardware I smell another injunction coming

    Oops!

He better watch out! The Apple police will be on his case regarding look and feel, prior art, etc.

    Nifty

Too bad the Apple legal department saw this already; they're just stopping for a moment to file their teeth to points, and then they'll start serving papers.

    It's got rounded corners!

    Sue Apple! Sue! Sue! Sue!

Bet they bloody would too, the <insert vocabulary here>

  7. SkippyBing Silver badge

and we can expect the 'look and feel' lawsuit when?

    That is all.

  8. nyelvmark

    Look and feel?

I bet there's a writ on its way from Apple right now.

This thing is crying out to be used as a pong table.

Is this guy going to be sued to hell and back, as it looks like an iPhone?

No passing off to see here, move along

The iLawyers will not be concerned.

    Trademarks?

I doubt it. This falls clearly under the 'parody' exemption.

Besides he is AFAIK, not going to sell this.

Now if he was planning on making a living from these the Apple lawyers might be interested.

This is a bit of fun that has received some publicity.

Actualy it might be the MS lawyers that go after him. This is far too close to their 'surface' toy.

    Nice mod

That's an impressive bit of mod work. Kudos to Mr. Bachmeier.

@AC The iLawyers aren't going to waste their time unless he starts selling these.

    WTF?

For further images and details on how it was made...

I'd be more interested in why it was made.

    iCaramba!

    old design

Now come out with a giant iphone 5 and I'm interested.

    Forget a cup holder

Forget a cup holder, this thing has a plate holder. Look at the button, it looks just like a plate was used for it.

    What's that noise?

Ah, that'll be the sound of a 100 lawyers being brought out of their coffins (well they are blood suckers).

Is their a collective noun for lawyers? If not, may I propose "a suck"?

I believe the proper term is...

      "A leech of lawyers"

    2. Alister Silver badge

      Collective noun

      ... a corruption of lawyers?

    Wasted opportunity

If it doesn't have a touch screen then it at least needs arcade joysticks and button for playing old skool space invanders

"He should expect a letter from the iLawyers shortly."

Quite rightly so - it's a complete rip off. Why do people feel the need to copy - innovate godammit.

    FAIL

    Cannot comprehend...

the sheer amount of fail involved in making a giant iPhone and not making it multi touch! So effectively it's just an all-in-one computer with a whopping big bezel?

    1. BorkedAgain
      FAIL

      @Greg

Well, it's better than the one you made...

      1. gregkelly1985
        Facepalm

        Incorrect

I didn't make one, so that comment is completely redundant. In fact, I would say that this is a massive waste of time and therefore is actually worse than me using my time to not build what has to one of the most worthless pieces of tech ever made.
