    IT is a generalised expense

    IT expenditure is in all sorts of budgets. Why expect there to be a specific IT budget any more than a specific paper clips budget?

    ... numbers being lifted, 457 visa turnaround reduced to 2 weeks, and a new online service allowing visa seekers to register to be cherry picked by employers.

    Well, OK, there are no big boondoggles or giveaways for federal IT contractors. What about the bits of the federal budget that affect the Australian IT sector's ability to remain competitive, export its products, get the skilled employees it needs...?
