    Seasoned trolls..

OK El Reg, while this is an IT site let us not lose touch with the reality of the IQ of most internet trolls. It put my money on this being a real moron. Remember that we are talking MLB.com here as well, the most godawful sport ever to disgrace the airwaves (okay... curling wins by a broomstick). It is highly probable an IP address would unmask the troll. That is all.

    Idiots all around

If they managed to track which IP addresses are posting this stuff, then why haven't they just added them to their deny list on the Server, firewall or wherever convenient? Of course it is baseball, so I wouldn't be surprised if their site was actually hosted using some crap PHP-based forum software running on servers hosted by GoDaddy or some equally crap-tastic company.

As for the troll, how the hell cares that much about a sport? or specifically about just one guy? I've always found that the more passionate about a sport, the stupider they are. No exceptions.

    Watch this space!

Taking: ".....has traced the IP addresses used to post the messages to Charter."

and: ".....it's an open website that allows people to post information anonymously..."

together leads me to one conclusion. Now the latter's public knowledge, the former won't be true much longer. This afternoon could well be International Snap Your Goolies For Major League Baseball Day.
