The Woman with the McDonald's coffee had third degree burns on her thighs and genitals, she had to have multiple skin grafts. That is not "sue Happy" that was justice. Google it, photos of the skin grafts are online........

How many Watches will Apple flog? 20, er, 18.5, no, five, wait, 50 million!

Dana W
Meh

Not for this Apple fan.

I"m an Apple fan, lots of Apple gear, but I own about two dozen, mechanical, and electro-mechanical (non Quartz) wrist watches, from thirty to one hundred years of age, I just can't see retiring them to wear a tinier screen for my iPhone on my wrist. Maybe I'm old fashioned, I don't know, but I can get any number of beautiful, classic watches for $350+ that will certainly outlive me, and could easily go on for a century. And one that will be obsolete in 3 years just does not cut it in comparison.

Re: IOS to Android ratio

It measures iOS to Android ownership on the REGISTER nothing else. And the user base here is very much NOT the general public.

iOS is popular with people who want it to just work, and don't want to have to run an antivirus on their PHONE!

I've seen people go to Android from iOS, They get talked into it by salesmen, then they come back. iOS has better user retention. Android is fine for geeks. ts like Linux, its nice if you know how to use it, and you can maintain it. But people like their phones the way they like their TVs, turn it on and USE it. My Last Android device had to have its boot-loader unlocked and be rootkitted to give me that non "walled garden" experience It is supposed to be so famous far.

More iOS users are willing to actually PAY for apps. In so many app reviews on the Google play store, the PAID version gets slammed for having more features than the free one, because Ghod forbid they have to sped a dollar on an app. Developers are apparently supposed to be paid in "satisfaction"

You'll get sick of that iPad. And guess who'll be waiting? Big daddy Linux...

Dana W

I am a Mac user and multiple Mac owner. I was loving Linux, and planned on replacing my Macbook Pro with a Lenovo when Gnome 3 came along and pretty much Killed Linux for me. Canonical's newfound love of lock down left me cold. Linux wants to give me the amazing workspace customization I had in the early 2000's I'll change my mind. I'll head right back to Linux when Unity is buried in the same pit with Metro.

Re: Snobbery bollocks

Seriously? Benchmark one of these $50 tablets up against a top end Samsung or Apple tablet. If you want a bad screen, a plastic case and a cheap and dated "or mystery" processor, by all means buy one from Tesco/Walmart (insert your local junk store here) Be ready for no support, an antique version of Android, and quite often not even access to the Google play store. MY Android Tablet plays Portal. I'm betting yours does not. You get what you pay for.

What is it about the misers here who will ignore CPU and build quality just to pat themselves on the back for avoiding a brand name?

Re: The best urban transport

We call those bicyclists the little pants patrol. They think that riding a bicycle makes them morally superior, and that its the way EVERYBODY should get around. They think they will always be 25 and in good health. And that everybody should live in inner city hipster flats.

My city has built them the second best bike trails in the US. Including cross city greenways, and parallel bicycle roadways. Do you think they RIDE on them? No, the law says they have a RIGHT to a full lane of road, and thy won't have it any other way. There is a little monument near my apartment to a man who git killed on his bicycle on the street. Literally four feet away from a bicycle only ROAD.

These people are a nasty, pretentious menace to the road.

Tim Cook: The classic iPod HAD TO DIE, and this is WHY

This post has been deleted by a moderator

Dana W

Not stopping now, even if Apple is.

I have three iPods. A 160 thick, and a 160 thin, the one I use the most though is a 2004 black and red U2 model. I replaced the battery, and dumped the 20 Gig hard drive for a 64 Gig compact flash. I want to load the seventh Gen with 256 of flash as well. I like classic iPods, and as long as I can get the battery, I will NEVER stop using them.

BONEHEAD FANBOIS encamp outside Apple Stores

Dana W

I will never understand these fools, and my house is full of Apple stuff. I like the iPhone, I really do, but I'll get my next iPhone by registered mail, next year when my contract for this one runs out. Just like the last one.

Android or Apple, its a PHONE. Some people are just stupid. If you have time to wait in front of a store for days or weeks, you have worse issues than the need for a new phone.

Apple's ONE LESS THING: the iPod Classic disappears

Dana W

What?

What are you talking about? Of course iTunes lets you store your music library on your computer!

1

Dana W

No cloud please.

People go on about the glories of the cloud. Cloud music is great if you are in your teens and only want the flavor of the day, but if you have even reasonably eclectic tastes, a lot of what you listen to is just NOT there. It is not about convenience for us, it is about making sure every track out there is licensed, and accounted for. And if you would rather listen to Klaus Nomi than Niki Minaj, well as far as they are concerned you are simply out of luck.

I own three iPods, two 160's, and the one I use the most, a Gen 4 U2 iPod I converted to flash. Its very easy to open a dead or dying iPod, upgrade the battery, and convert to flash. My 20 gig is now a 64 gig, (soon to be 128 gig) and when I do the 160 Classics I plan on making them into 256 gigs. There is a lot to be said for a player than can hold all my important music, and 11 years of my favorite show.

My biggest fear is one day plugging them into iTunes and being told they are no longer supported.

It does not matter what it looks like. No matter WHAT it looks like the screaming Android trolltards here will piss and whine about it.

They were ready to hang it before the first screenshot. So why bother arguing with them?

Arguing with trolls is wasted effort. And it only took me 20 years of the internet, and ten of BBSes (and an extra four or WoW somewhere in between) before that to figure it out. I guess I'm a slow learner.

More Apple is all about fashion nonsense.

The word for Android isn't egalitarian, its ghetto. KIDDING!

The REALLY fashionable types just want to compare who has the BIGGEST phone. Android has that market hands down. If you want a phone the size of a paperback book, you go Android. I get the android fashionistas all the time telling me Android is in! Its whats cool! Everybody who is anybody has Android! And who has the trendiest model. These days Android is all about fashion and another way for boys to show who has the "biggest".

But seriously, I never cared about Fashion, I never watch advertizing, not in many years. I go out of my way to AVOID being fashionable. When I bought my first iPhone, there really was nothing else like it, I keep getting them because my partner and I have five Macs and I like the integration. It's worked well for me, never failed me, and the customer service has been top notch.

If Android meets my needs "Removable battery, expansion slot, and decent warranty support" at some point in a phone NOT made by Samsung, maybe I'll even switch to one. But I really don't want my phone to be a huge pocket tablet. These days ANDROID is for the trendy people to impress each other with.
