Next month's Firefox 48 is looking Rusty – and that's a very good thing

Dave Lawton
FAIL

Won't see it here

On esr, had to rollback to 38.8 after the 45.2 replacement disabled all my add-ons (possibly not CTR), without any chance to abort.

Looking for a good replacement, with devs who care about the user, not Chrome, Otter, or Qupzilla.

Realistic suggestions for 64-bit Linux please.

Re: AlternitiveOS

There is also a version of Mint that uses KDE as a desktop.

This might be more familiar since this is closer (on the surface) to the W95 et al style desktop.

There are also quite a few other distributions that have KDE as default desktop.

Re: Showoffs

No, I got an Samsung Galaxy S2 to replace my HTC Desire, and a second one a little later (long story), gave me nothing but pure love for the device, which I also had when I owned Nokia phones. Now I'm on my second S2 and I have nothing but good things to say about them.

In my circle of friends, family and work colleagues, getting highly annoyed with an iPhone seems to be a common occurrence, they all got Androids because of their bad experiences, not to show off.

BT set to undercut rivals with return to mobile biz

Dave Lawton

OMG

I thought things couldn't get worse when T-Mobile was subsumed by Orange, but they did :(

I have major history with BT, every single thing they've ever done for me, they've managed to screw up, so you can imagine my despair when I heard that they were taking over EE.

I just wish we had proper alternatives, and a regulator with teeth, sigh.

Unless you've passed retiring age, you're NEVER too old, & probably not then either :)

Quiz list for you to answer, here, or to yourself.

Where do you live ?

Are you prepared to travel as far as 200 miles, or further for a role ?

Are you prepared to stay away for 1 week, 2 weeks, or 4 weeks as required ?

Will you accept short term, i.e. 1 month, 3 months, or 6 months long contracts ?

If the answer to those is yes, then put your CV on Jobserve, & Jobsite, and create a Linked-In profile.

Start applying for jobs, don't use the bulk apply, don't bother with cover letters.

There is plenty of stuff out there, this week I have had a dozen or so roles offered, with the stand-out one paying 380GBP per day, and on my home doorstep.

Good luck.

Re: ooooouch

@BillG

But Intel HAD an ARM licence. They inherited it from DEC, along with DEC's StrongARM, but Intel didn't like advertising a competitors' product, so they called their fabbed version X-scale.

Unfortunately for Intel, the first few iterations were much worse performance than DEC's, so there was a drift away of users (not end users) to other ARM licensees, and Intel eventually sold off the division.

I think it's called Marvel now, BICBW.

The story is much more complex than that, but I think I've covered the essential bits.

I doubt that ARM would sell out to Intel, not in their shareholders' best interests.
