You are wrong.
To achieve the best performance hand written assembly language is always used.
The fact is that writing assembly is time consuming and only a few programmers can really do it.
There are less than 300,000 programmers in the world, any higher numbers is people doing basic programming. Out of those only a tiny 5% or less is able to do proper optimization in assembly on one or more platforms.

The Sony PS3 Cell CPU when it was released was beyond anything Intel had to offer at an higher price.
That was innovating. That was worth paying a premium price for.
The PS3 is still far from outdated.
The first pictures and demos of beta PS4 games just show how bad the hardware really is. It's already outdated. It offers nothing better than what an old PS3 can do. And it's worse than any medium-range PC.
That is the whole point.
A cheap $100 AMD APU hardware only to rip customers off is just a shame Sony and Microsoft managers deserve paying by going bankrupt!
Unless too many people will like being sheep wasting money on cheap AMD APU PCs.

And no, if a controller fails you don't lose all your data, changing the controller with a new one getting back all the data is not only possible but it quite rarely happens in data centers.

A single SSD is not reliable, way worse than a single hard disk.
Reliability and fast performance must be both achieved for anyone that cares about protecting data either being a business or an average user.
RAID configurations are needed to achieve that.

SSD won't replace mechancial Hard Disk drives for another 10 to 15 years at least.
Manufacturers already have technologies in lab to increase Hard Disk capacity over 300TB. It's just for a marketing reason that they aren't pushing the technology and are slowly re-using existing tech before releasing anything new.

Since when RAID-5 had an higher failure rate than single drives?
Also no one with a bit of brain would setup a 3-disk RAID-5 anyway. The minimum proper RAID-5 setup is using 4 drives.
Also.. telling that current drives would have 1 error every 10E14 it's just not true.
Enterprise SATA and SAS hard drives have 10E15, 10E16 and 10E17 error rates nowadays.
If you thought that consumer cheapest hard drives with 10E14 was the best on the market today then you were living in the past.

Who wants to drive away the freelance developers force from iOS to other platforms?
1) Microsoft. (desperate with their silly restricted Windows 8 developers program)
2) Google. (desperate with fake statistics to the press because they sell only very cheap phones and developers are quitting the platform due to customers not paying for apps at all)
If these fake statistics were true there wouldn't be around 15,000 freelance developers and tiny startups and small (2-5 people) software houses producing apps and games on iOS.
If everyone was getting only a tiny bit of money and just 25 big mutlinationals were getting all the profits there would be no one left developing for iOS.
If people buying iOS devices weren't buying apps and games there wouldn't be any profits.
Nowadays the average iOS user has no less than 100 apps installed at a time on any Apple device. At least 50 or more they buy.
Then a minority of iOS customers doesn't buy apps and another minority uses pirated copies (that lack updates..at each app update they must find a new cracked version and reinstall it.. how smart they are.. just like on Android..pathetic people stealing ultra-cheap apps).
85-90% of iOS users generate profits on the platform by buying apps and games. And surely not just 50 to 75 apps a year released by 25 big software houses on the platform.

Metro/ModernUI is not a GUI, it's a silly childish joke. It can be nice in a kindergarten for preschool kids games but nothing more than that.

Linux or BSD and any Unix servers do have GUIs too. The fact that you can run long script on shells means nothing. And it's not that businesses using Linux, BSD, Unix servers don't use GUIs to do the job.
It might look nice and smart to do everything on the shell but it's not always the best way to do things at all.
And having a pathetic childish unusable Metro/ModernUI thing instead just means that the only UI option sucks and can't be used.

Windows8 is way worse than Vista.
Vista had bugs BUT it was still usable. And once the bugs got fixed it worked pretty well already with SP1.

.NET is a virtual machine just like Java.
"nothing more but a framework" you wrote there means absolutely nothing that way.
The C# language for accessing .NET components and programming doesn't mean that it isn't a virtual machine because .NET is a virtual machine, plain and simple.
That is the reason why .NET apps are so slow and bad compared to C++ ones.
And that is a good reason why since Microsoft forced video cards/GPU manufacturers to write drivers using .NET the distribution packages became a bloated mess and the number of bugs increased like never before.
C# and .NET just like Java are suited for not real programmers. Real programmers use C/C++ and in-line assembly at least.
