Aaah the N95, beloved of so many....
If you listed every feature & then wrote FAIL next to each feature then that would be 100% accurate.
Nokia were already failing then, they continued to fail with a glacially slow response to the original iPhone (3 years was it?). And now with the Lumia their superb build quality is again apparent, with the SIM card door bending for everyone who cares to open the door...., i.e., everyone.
And, in their final act of FAILness, in the week MS buy Skype they release a phone w/o a front facing camera.
I am pleased they are failing for the POS they sold me that was the N95 (and yes I did get it replaced..., and replaced....).
I'm looking forward to joining the gaggle. I love BF, I usually manage to stay alive 10, sometimes 15 seconds, wooopie!
I wish I could afford a new gaming PC for some proper action...., unfortunately will have to be on ye olde Xbox this time round though.
Still, goona be fun!
... also forgot the front facing camera on the 800, doh!
I was looking forward to this phone, I wanted this phone, in fact two of them, one for me and one for the Mrs. I thought the N9 looked really cool, finally something to get excited about. All Nokia had to do was switch MeGoo for WP7, that's it, that's all that was required. Instead they went to the trouble of re-designing the phone to remove features!
The lack of FFC is truly bizzare given MS's aquisition of Skype and the obvious video-chating this implies. Does MS not now also "own" Nokia??? Do they not talk?
The design of the N9 is truly a breath of fresh air (the first since the iPhone4), however they deserve to continue to fail for their UTTER incompetence. Why did they release their "killer" phone shortly after the N9, making it look instantly inferior?
I had vowed never to buy another Nokia after the POS that was the N95, I was willing to give them another shot with the 800..., but they have seriously blown it, a real shame.
Admittedly I've had two (almost prehistoric now) phones with FFCs and never used them. However, in buying a new toy I want the OPTION not to use it! Reading the review I was quite interested until I got to the FFC bit....., darn, I can here Steve's etherial voice beginning to call to me.....
Because Apple is supposed to lead!
Not tech wise - they are often up to a year behind - but design wise.
Instead this was a spec bump to an existing product, but w/o ANY design innovation.
Yes the iPhone4 is a nice design, BUT it would be even nicer(er) with a bezel-less corner to corner screen => THAT is what was expected & THAT is why the 4S is a disappointment.
MS seem to be on the up to me.
Mango looks great.
Win8 Metro tablets looks good.
Xbox mew Metro update looks good.
Soon all 3 will be one shared environment for you media and games.
As for MS having to buy Nokia... probably best for everybody. Stops Nokia dissapearing* completely and give MS and instant MS-Nokia super phone. Where's the fail?
[*just what the hell are they doing? They announced the WP7 phone eaons ago! Same old problems it would seem. Are they waiting for iPhone5 to launch first just so they can have even less market share????]
But that's just it, this ISN'T the pinnacle of human society, very VERY far from it. The problems are myriad and things are only going to get worse (possibly a lot) before they get better (if we ever get there).
Firstly the answer: The Culture, or any other SciFi utopian society = no money, no disease, you can have anything you want, etc.
Is this possible? Yes.
What do we need to do to get there? Well....
