Apple to support reps: Don't confirm Mac infections

Richard Cartledge

Not a virus

But it's neither an infection no a virus. It's a bit of crap software that the user downloaded, and typed their admin password to accept and install.

If people are so dumb to fall for the fake software, then they should either stick to the app store or they're just facebooktards and it doesn't matter anyway as they do nothing of consequence.

Apple proposes even tinier SIMs for future iPhones, iPads

Richard Cartledge
Jobs Halo

Call yourselves IT specialists?

Here is an MTN Iran SIM cut freehand with scissors into a microSIM, then popped into a £10 MOTOROLA. If that's to hard, get a SIM adaptor.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1273965/motorola.jpg

Richard Cartledge

Scissor.

You can cut your sim card into a microsim and they still work in old fashioned phones by way of an adapter or just friction and careful positioning in the holder!

Apple sued over iPhone location tracking

Richard Cartledge
Stop

Dumb and dumber

From what I read, this is just a cache file stored on the device.

Using this cache file actually reduces the chance of tracking as it reduces the number of network transactions. Nobody has access to the cach unless they have physical access to an unlocked device or an unencrypted pc backup.

I sm happy to be proven wrong if anyone knows better.

Parental controls

What would be the point of MacOSX's excellent parental controls if the youths ca just download Opera to bypass Safari's restrictions. Apple is from the USA and in some states you're considered a child until into your early 20's!

Hold on

Boof Boof

In Iran they have boof boof chicken and fake KFCs (Kabooki Fried Chicken) that even have pictures of Colonel Sanders but are nothing to do with the Amercian joint.

The biggest complaint I have of food in Iran is that it is always served lukewarm.

Apple accused of iPhone ban on 'all single-station radio apps'

Richard Cartledge
Happy

Well I sort of agree

I would agree with this if Apple have a proper clear out of dross based on ratings or having nobody download the apps.

if the app just opens a stream that you could open in Safari and displays a logo then why bother?

There are single station apps like Radio Javan, which cover just that station, but a truly fine examples of how value can be added to a 'single station app, without it becoming a bloated portal.

Shoes

Since the shoe bomber days, I have always removed shoes at Heathrow, but 3 weeks ago, I saw several people not take their shoes off and just show them, so I did the same. I think if they are metal-free you are OK, but if they have metal eyelets etc... you have to take them off with your belt, watch etc... Best to get some suitable flying shoes.

Google's 'instant' search springs keyboard controls

Richard Cartledge
WTF?

I like it

I quite like this and prefer SPACE BAR to scroll down (on Mac OS).

but I hate the new google image search. With multitouch scrolling it's just a mess, as the pointer drags over images as they cascade up and they inflate and deflate all over the shop.

Sadly, many of these websites have been taken to their evolutionary conclusion and yet the idle hands of their developers are now making mischief. ebay is another fine example, ruined by continuous meddling from bored staff.

There will be no damn recall.
