The results for the 3rd quarter of 2013??

Wow. So we know Win8 continues to fail for the next 6 months huh?..

Simon Buttress
WTF?

6.1 or 6.1.1?

So is this borking for 6.1 or 6.1.1? I've got 6.1 running fine on my 4S and there's an update to 6.1.1 do I download or not?

What's the height of conceit?

Meh

Twas the bettery life, or lack of.

I also ordered one thinking for the price I'd be able to live with the purported poor battery life. Thankfully though, the order backlog gave me a chance to consider further the slowly increasing poor reviews of the battery life of the phone. I cancelled and bought a Note 2. Even though it's cost me more money, it's saved me a shedload of hassle with poor battery life which was the achilles with my creaking DHD

Re: err

That would mean Apple incorporating wireless charging which they're unlikely to do any time soon, and if they do they will develop their own proprietary standard or engineer their products to only work with official Apple licensed induced energy, non-licensed energy will not be allowed.........

I loved elbowing them

Grabbing their hair and kneeing them in the face was a win as well. Or throwing the knifes at them.

Me and my mate used to complete the game on 1 life. We had no life at the time.

Re: And I need NFC why?

And I need a laser why?

While I am also slightly skeptical of NFC (or its close-range variants), I think there will be large demand for it once we sort out the applications. We're still at that stage where we know it's exciting but haven't quite figured out the best way to use it yet. Maybe switching the central heating on and off as we arrive/leave the house. Light switches becoming redundant as we pass from room to room, maybe reminding us that that parma ham in the fridge is nearing its sell by date. I don't know but I'm sure someone will crack it.

Maybe I just love technology and the possibilities it allows us to dream up

Re: Moto Xoom UK - still waiting

What he said.

I clung on for a few months like a smitten teenager hoping Motorola would lavish ICS upon me but in the end I saw the reality of it. 7 months since the US Wi-Fi only Xoom got ICS and yet we still wait for it here in the UK? F-off Motorola.

GEDify your Xoom. It's definitely worth it and once, or maybe if, Moto UK get round to rolling out ICS in the UK then you can flash back to UK ICS if you fancy. Hell, they might even jump ICS and roll out Jellybean instead, but that might be the caffeine talking. The difference in performance of the same hardware running 4.0/4.1 compared to 3.2 is frankly unacceptable in the fact that I fail to take in how much positive difference the OS upgrade makes to the same physical piece of kit.

Sky Sports Pass?

To be fair if I can pay a smaller (& REASONABLE) amount for Sky Sports only rather than ponying up for the sports and the 90% of keech I don't ever watch then I'll probably do it.

Re: Jellybean on the xoom?

I got sick of waiting for Motorola UK to pull its finger out so I flashed to the US Xoom GED ROM. Totally different device, fast, smooth, reinvigorated it. I am astounded by it. Jellybean will be here soon so I'll probably continue to use the US ROMs until the UK ones are available and swap back when they are. Trust me, go for it, you'll not look back at all.

iOS5 is Apple's mobile device Vista

Certainly in my experience on my 4th gen Touch. Noticeably slower operation, repeatable freezes, takes an age to unlock, several crashes.

What a clusterf***

Honestly, do RIM employ anyone in upper echelons that is capable of critically assessing a product spec & function before moving from alpha to prototype to production? Are they all deep-cover Android & Apple execs?

This 'device' will surely be held up as a shining example of how NOT to do a tablet. Honestly, if there was a process flow diagram I'd bet money that the RIM executives travelled down every 'No' branch on the page to arrive at the fail known as the Playbook. And that includes the naming process.

Simon Buttress

Do they not get it?

Apple can charge a premium because they are Apple, Samsung phones running Android can't because, quite simply, they aren't Apple. Everyone knows Apple makes hench cash off their hardware so why not settle to take a realistic profit from the hardware and still undercut the iPhone by a substantial margin to gather a lot more sales and revenue than the Apple-istic price point they announced.

I was interested in this before the price was announced, now it has been announced I am not. I'll stick with my DHD

Simon Buttress

count me in!

I'm on the 50Meg connection just now, love it, and will upgrade as long as it's unmetered and a half decent upload speed (5Meg or above please Virgin).

I don't mind paying the premium either if I get the same solid fast-as-fook unmetered connection that I do now.

Simon Buttress

wow, not like Apple to withhold features is it?

Title says it all, no surprise that Apple milks its user base for all the cash it can as it introduces features 'as new' as selling points and reason to upgrade that other companies bundle as standard.

Don't like it myself but Apple are in it to make money. Kudos to them for buggering the gullible.
