Stealing from a charity..
That is lower than low. I hope this vermin never works in IT again.

I recently decided to change ISPs, and since I would be losing my old email address (Long since forwarded to gmail.) I decided to go through all the online services that I regularly use, update the email address, and while I was at it change all the passwords. Making them unique, and difficult to break/bruteforce.
I also started using KeePass to keep them all sorted.
> because people know you have broken the law then that's your punishment. I think based on this we should just scrap all prisons as we clearly don't need them.
Your idea could work really well with a certain group of crims.
Also, your ideas intrigue me, and I wish to subscribe to your news letter.
I believe you are referring to geostationary orbit. The altitude for this is VERY high.
Geostationary orbit is at 255614285.7143 Linguine, or 35786 KM for our less enlightened readers.
22235.8867 Miles for our bass ackwards American friends.
All thanks and credit/blame belong with The Reg online standards converter.
> I could go on but it is nearly home time and I'd suspect most readers would prefer not to read about my pet gripes ...
Do you perhaps have a Powerpoint of all your pet gripes? Preferably with less than one gripe per slide.
> Any employer doing that in the UK would be breaking the employment rules on freedom of legal sexual preferences
I am sure they will call you up and let you know that your porn browsing habits are the reason you were not hired.
Since you will never know why they didn't hire you, the reason can be anything they like.
Didn't feel he/she would be a good fit with the company.
Didn't interview well.
Did not have (Skill X)
> But about your mom and pop? Or your uncle Ebenezer?
I put my 67 year old, VERY VERY nontechnical, mother on a Mint laptop.
My support calls fell from at least one a month to none after the first month.
There were a few calls the first month, asking "How do I do X?"
If all you are doing is browsing the web, some spreadsheets, and a little light word processing. Linux is SO much better than windows.
> We should all vote Trump/Palin then. Got it.
Please, please, please let it be Trump/Palin. The entertainment value of dumb and dumberer would keep me laughing for at least a decade.
PS: I have been predicting a Trump/Palin partnership for several months.
Fingers crossed.
No surprise that the R-Pi 3 is the most popular.
The community that has grown up around it is fantastic. Very helpful, and hardly ever a RTFM reply to a question.
Then there is the price. At the price for a R-Pi 3 if I make a critical mistake with my project and all the magic smoke escapes, I say a couple of bad words, then go online and order a replacement. No big deal.
Now if I could just get a Pi Zero in Canada at a reasonable price, I would be a happy man.
> Permissions, sphermissions. I'm Batman at all company webinars from now on.
You don't need photoshop for that. Just go in costume. I personally prefer the 1960's Adam West Batman costume.
It is really fun to wear it funerals. When people complain about your inappropriate attire, tell them the deceased requested you wear it.
> The fact that another way was found to access the data on that particular phone
I seriously doubt that "they" accessed anything off that phone. It looked to me more like a convenient excuse to exit from an unwinnable situation. Also by dropping the issue, rather than pursuing it legally, no legal precedent has been set.
Life, and the universe as we observe it is nothing more than a MMORPG.
If you look at the players, you will see:
People who have everything handed to them. (God mode)
People who start with the deck stacked against them, crack babies, the disabled. (Nightmare mode)
People playing to win.
People playing to survive.
People playing to lose.
People playing chaotic.
People who cheat.
People who play honestly.
And like most good games it includes embedded video games. (EG: Space Quest 3 - Astro Chicken)
Now the universe makes sense. :)
Having known several Transgender people. I can say without any doubt that they were all women. Regardless of their external genitalia.
Let's not overlook you feeble attempt to bury a "Won't someone think of the children", argument at the end of your bigoted rant. I will just point out that the VAST majority of pedophiles identify as heterosexual males.
Lastly, "Big" John sickens me.
It seems like every time a website gets redesigned it gets worse.
Here are my rules for website redesign:
1. Don't redesign because your site has gotten "Stale" (Whatever that means)
2. Listen to your users. If enough users request a change, then consider it.
3. Profit.
I used to work with a PM who had a brilliant way of dealing with scope creep.
Client calls up and says, "We think it would be great if the software would do SOMETHINGSTUPID."
PM says, "Fantastic idea. Since it isn't in the original spec it will only cost $X to implement. Would you like me to send a revised quote?"
$X = several tens of thousands of dollars minimum.
Worked nearly every time. When it didn't work we got more billable hours. :)
