Seems real simple to me
Its a software programme to be used with the apple ipod, its free and supplied by apple.
Its up to the who they let sync to it, no competition commission need be involved. If palm are unhappy about it, then they should develop their own free software service.
bloody hell
lay off the 13 year old kid, this has probably made his whole year. Grow up boys and girls you would be so offended at a 13 year old kids opinion of Vista? Much older people have had far more to say.
Its great a young lad is having a go, making his own website etc and all elreg can do is take the piss? Quite concerning the depths plumbed just because apple sent them a letter. Really.
All these reviews
Get 80%, I swear to god.
What is the point of the percentage below 60, why do you people bother with it?
@giles
Well played, you should be a lawyer.
You have to wonder at it all really, as an outsider looking at America it really is a fantastic thing.
Precisely...
How much money is the average liberal hippy douche actually likely to save using this thing? Was it more environmentally friendly to create this device as opposed to a traditional style handset?
I smell bullshit.
Ffrankmccaffery
Are you 12 or something? thats peoples lives you are taking the piss out of.
why so upset
Look at the state of his website. Enough said.
So
When this thing makes fucking millions at the box office do you think all these spoons will layoff the 'home taping is killing everything' and variants of?
Do you know what
I did not understand a word of that, why not show some pretty pictures of games so we can see how awesome these card are
To be fair
They will do this for you at an apple store if you are to much of a spoon to take 8 screws out. The serious difficulty of this seems small fair enough for the excellent design (typed on a plastic macbook with the forth chipped keyboard.
Will the madness ever end
I am patenting walking, you little gits better watch out.
I still don't get it
Does the screen come away from the base so it can go on the wall ( the wall I would hope that is very close indeed)
Well might as well ask
I have XBMC etc running just fine but would prefer to watch non apple cert vids etc straight from the apple menu.
I tried to install NIto but every time I entered details of network media it would crash, infact just looking at it wrong and it crashes taking the ATV with it.
I did not realise ATFiles or what ever it is called does the same thing, however will it do it for streamed media.
Also I use cyber duck also but is it not possible to mount the ATV or some such so that copying any mdeia over is a little more mac like?
So long and short is
It sounds good but is otherwise crap.
So why 70% rating?
yea
can't help but think that one wants a bunch of wank gesture as well.
Well...
Dead Space has set the bench mark for me. I think doom has a fell of a hill to climb.
Oh well
About the only interesting thing to come out of their today for sure.
I take it..
Apple will be using the famous American 'crap-o-rama' patent system to back track this lot amongst others:

My head
Literally exploded with the instructions provided, looking at the site and I am no clearer. I watched one auction that said it would finish no later than 5.15 and its now 5.21 and still going.
Don't see
How they can put raid of any configuration in a time capsule box.
Its all unimportant
When you have a hack of XBMC on your apple tv with iplayer on but I did download it and it said click here to watch tv which I did and it took me straight back to Safari.
I hate that, Whats the bloody point of that.
I am quite tired
But this article seems to mostly be gibberish. Not very interesting gibberish.
are Americans..
as stupid as they appear to everyone else?
Stop bitching
like girlie men, any one of you and indeed I would take that money just like he has, and I would have a nice big house with a gym and fly round the world on my lear jet and I wouldn't give a flying f**k about people like us dribbling on about people like them on a computer forum.
Call it greed, call it what you like, it only those that don't who cry about those that do.
We all know
that websterfreaky is the twisted half sister of someone at elreg.
We all know.
I remain
Astounded each day by the amount of junk mail with Paris Hilton in the title, its really quite amazing.
I wonder if she ever realised this would be her fate?
The most amusing and bewildering so far is Paris Hilton Steals Pugs Bus
I like to blindly click the links and see what happens because I am a mac user.
fiddle de dum de do.
I don't know why, I just sorta hoped this would be a link to an application to make aperture slightly more usable.
Ho hum.
Being an IT site
you would think the ethernet port would be a high priority in the review, jesus.
I am guessing for updates.
iChat
works with AIM, and always has you never needed .Mac accounts to use it.
Something is not right
'It's not like we didn't have our eyes open. We found six other planes while we were looking for him. We're pretty good at what we do'
That would be it then, a sentence that does not add up.
De Ja Vu
I swear they have posted this article before.
you missed my point entirely.
In the uk at least if you walk into O2 you cannot leave the store until you have signed a monthly contract which you WILL pay every month.
There fore what is the point of the jail break? Surely people will not pay 30 quid to o2 a month then money to another phone provider as well?
My understanding was
You goto a phone shop or apple store and if you want one you get put onto the network there and then like any other phone.
Therefore whats the point of the jail break (Accept in like 2 years time when you contract runs out?)
They know what they saw
"They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw."
If so it wouldn't be a UFO innit.
@liam
Don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant mate. DIVX is PC stuff never supported or even mentioned by Apple.
The apple TV supports full 5.1 surround sound as well as HD output.
Whilst we are about it how many HD dvds can you rent from UK block buster for £3.50?
Get back to me.
The trouble with the English...
is we like to moan. Infact we moan so much most actually forget to have a look around at what ISP deals there are.
The ISP I use for instance allows 30gigs on peek and 300gigs off peek per month, more than enough for iTunes.
Sadly most of the british public are a little, erm, 'knowledge shy' and think its either BT or Virgin. (Or heaven forbid tiscali, because they had the audacity to advertise on the televisual box)
American fuel
$3.95 Aww poor fucking americans try $10.91
UK average at the moment.
Does anyone know
If once the guy was onto the machine he was able to execute code without passwords etc?
I am just interested.
I am a mac user and if it did get hacked fair enough. I am interested to know how much would need to be hack and how much an error between the chair and keyboard.
haha
I love you Webster, are you a scientologist? El Reg should employ you.
@ Freaky
Did Steve jobs do you in the arse when you weren't looking or something you knob?
What ever
'If you could have seen what I have seen with your eyes.'
Is clearly the best.
Backing up over wifi
Hi, I am not technologically minded it has to be said but I keep reading that TM won't back up over wifi.
I must be real clever then because since day one of leopard I set up my macbook to backup to a harddrive attached to my mini upstairs and its worked flawlessly. I even had to use it the other day ;) No problem what so ever. Whats more I can back up with the macbook plugged into the network or wirelessly. On occasion a mount appears on the macbook and the back up starts then it goes when done.
Seems simple enough.
groan
No, seriously. groan.
umm
I look forward to-r-renting it. Paying my arse.
Ifs its real
Its disappointing, I want applications for my AppleTV god dammit.
Ah well
Tesco only take £1 in every £8 circulating on groceries in the UK, presumably they cannot afford a bit of good will this time round.
