I also got suspended once for "hacking" the school network and "crashing the systems". The IT manager said he had to stay in all weekend to fix it.
All I tried to do was copy a 50mb video file from a network share to my local folder as the connection was too slow to stream it.
I wonder if IT standards have improved since then.

Anyone who knows that above 255 is not possible, knows 10, 172 and 192 (et al) are private. You'd still have the voice in your head pointing out how silly it is. And someone might try to do something stupid on a 10, 172 or 192 range (i.e. at work) and get fired.

firstly, the Internet is not a high street. The analogy is flawed as there's no logical connect between them. You don't wander down a "street" online. You go to a search engine. Most people use Google, Bing or Yahoo. Browsers default to them, phones default to them.
They all, by default, filter adult content. However if you search for very specific terms or turn off the content filters (something you have to do at least 2-3 clicks to accomplish - i.e. not by accident, you'll find adult material.
You have to be looking for this stuff, to find it. A 7 year old looking at Frozen music videos (or whatever 7 year olds do) is not going to accidentally run across inter-racial midget bukkake fisting parties.
You say maybe it should be "moved away from the newsagents" ? Like TOR ? You want to move porn to something like that? El Oh El.
Schools, mobile companies and ISPs should just turn on family filters by default. If you want it unblocked, it's unblocked. Problem solved. Except it's not because the kids will find a way around it anyway. They always will and always do. And have done since time began.
Not necessarily to calculate stuff from the presentation itself but we've had status boards on plasma TVs which flip between powerpoint slides which use OLE to have some graphs / data change as the spreadsheets themselves change - allowing for "live" data, as long as you refresh the powerpoint every day or so.
Clunky but some companies don't have budgets :(
Unless you're a climatologist, the only honest answer you can give to those questions is "don't know".
People think their opinion is valid because it's an opinion. It's special to them.
No it isn't. The only people who DO know are the people who study it and work on it. No one else is qualified to give an opinion - literally. At least, an educated one.
