@AC "A victory for morals"
Which "Good Book" are you looking to for moral guidance? The Bible?!?
I suggest you actually go read it. Including all those wacky passages
on rape, slavery and sex with children.

.... "arg! They've banned our "999" !!!!!"
Obviously they need a bit more publicity as even some on here have misunderstood that although all the countries can now use 112 as the emergency number, it doesn't mean there is a central pan-European emergency call centre redirecting calls based on where you are/what language you speak.
112 has been around for years on GSM networks anyway.
Where's the "Oh FFS!" icon?
Does anyone else she death-of-someone-famous induced hysteria a la Diana, Princess of Wales in all this?
Now looks like all someone has to do to win public adoration and critical acclaim is to cark-it.
(No matter how mediocre their oeuvre really is.)
Hopefully some celebs will take it upon themselves to try for this type of praise.

"I'm a product of 80s and 90s education, and don't have many problems with spelling...."
"So this seems to be more an issue of individuals rather than the education system itself. Furthermore, there's nothing stopping people who know they can't spell just picking up a book and learning."
Hmmm.... seems you have a good grasp of the plight that others less fortunate than yourself have found themselves in.
Well done. [sic]
Just because the education system didn't fail you, it doesn't mean that those for whom it did fail can be tarred as lazy, ignorant or stupid by people such as yourself.
So **** you too.
"... that people are too lazy or stupid to learn grammar and spelling?"
Being the product of a 70s/80s state comprehensive education system, I was never taught English grammar at school. And so my linguistic skills are pretty poor as a result. Bearing that in mind:
You can **** right off!
Although Bale seems to have vacuous playboy Bruce Wayne down to a tee, his portrayal of the Batman persona is laughable. (And not in the good way.)
Ledger's Joker fell well short of what I'd been expecting with all the rave reviews it recieved.
Not madcap, not scary, just lame. Mind you, he didn't seem to have much in the way of good dialogue to work with, so he doesn't get all the blame.
Michael Cane, the cheeky cockney Alfred? Well I'm sure his paycheck put in a good performance when he banked it.
Less "Dark Knight", more "Slightly Muggy Afternoon".
Is that better?
"Actually I'd like to know what the editor and journalists of that reprehensible lying gutter rag get up to at the weekend."
Yes, very good point. Most of the journalists seem to be drunken coke-heads who like to beat up spouses etc. We have a right to know all about their filthy private lives!!!
Time for in-depth investigations from El Reg?
At the time of the CEGB the uk was a major player in the nuclear electricity gen field.
Now reduced to selling it off to foreign companies and importing foreign know-how,
It's quite pitiful.
Hope they get them up and running before the EU carbon emissons reg come in in 2015 and all the coal fired stations have to be closed.
The death of Britain.
...this Shaun Robinson, 40, IT manager (and apparently an aviation expert too) must have an axe to grind because some snot-nosed French kid got to go in the cockpit and he didn't.
I love Air France. They're very free with the booze on long haul, and they don't seem to have BA and US airlines' policy of employing pensioners as cabin crew.
Mine the one hung up at the front, thanks.
Have had a Windows CE/whatever-they-now-call-it bluetooth phone option in my car for two years and it's a great piece of kit. Never had a problem with it and the voice recognition is surprisingly robust.
It's just another component system that hangs off the CANBus.
So: sorry naysayers, it works.
BBC : Teletext, Nicam, RDS the list is endless.

Sky/Newscorp : Fuck all.
BBC is a clear winner in the innovation stakes.
When will people stop giving their money to Murdoch and his spawn ?
I bet even Paris hasn't got as much brass as the Dirty Digger.
Why are they even talking about these expensive schemes when it was revealed to all today (with the doubling of car tax revenue to achieve a decrease of <1% in carbon emissions) that uk.gov are only interested in the tax revenue when it comes to carbon?
When will the uk get rid of this lame duck prime minister?
