I smell
Ken Mulcair's hand in this.....
Has anyone checked if the company is owned by News International?
I buck the trend
Because I use mine constantly, in fact I have to prise it out of my wife's hands.
I use my 3g phone...... Ok, it's an iPhone, but I'm not a fanboi honest! To give me the same service as a 3g ipad!
Truth be told, I'm kicking myself for not getting one with larger storage.
Every bit
As crooked as FIFA, but without the morals.
Microsoft would NEVER be allowed to get away with such practices!!!!
Garbidge in, Garbidge out
Wow, I must be unusual, because I have two IT degrees and I'm training to be a teacher. Funny that, because everyone else on my PGCE teacher training also had IT degrees!
And why not teach students to make apps for iphone; because Apple charges a small fortune, and you can only do it on an expensive Mac computer.
It's not a good policy, and there isn't the funding either. These are more "real" reasons why.
Also, how can students learn to program without being administrators of the computer, and the last thing you want is a bunch of 15 year old boys with administrator level rights!!!
I remember
The number of times El Reg poo-poo'd terriorist threats and attacks, I remember how the register "exposed" that terrorists couldn't mix chemicals in an aircraft toilet to make a bomb.
I remember how many times our civil liberties were cast aside in the name of anti-terrorist legislation (according to the register); but most of all, I remember how the register has got it wrong. Wrong on the issues of civil liberties, wrong on the motives and techniques of terrorists and wrong on how we in the west should see potential threats.
O.k., as a tech site, I can see how people who read the reg are amongst the most savvy about tech, but your scare mongering about tech and civil liberties, and washing over the clear and present danger of terrorist extremism worries me.
Sure, not everything the goverment does is in our interests, BUT, nothing terrorists do is in anyone interests except their own. The sooner El Reg stops siding with the extremists, and becomes less anti-establisment the better.
We all accept the failings of government, but more, we need to acknowledge the disgusting practices of Islam on our society and stop beating ourselves about how we could appease the violent minority.
Price
Based on the make and the specification, it'll have to be very cheap to sell.
If it's resistive rather than capacitive, I wouldn't pay more than a ton for one
Delivery
30 minutes or it's free right?
Stick it to the man!!
Nice to see someone stick it to Apple, but don't forget Playboy did this 1st!
Tax tax tax!
@wize you forget that after the $$$ rate, yanks have to add sales tax, where our price includes import tax & VAT.
Still sucks though, blame the Con-Dem alliance!
and wait for......
drop box app on iOS to suddenly infringe apples terms and conditions!
Do you remember.....
That guy that got an AR tattoo, I bet he feels a right tit now, mainly because he is a right tit though!
Lightsabre
Nuff said!!!
Still got fingers crossed
for EE Doc Smith!!!
I can't see!
Huum.....
A video about the iPad, that can't be viewed on the iPad....
It's not about the numbers.....
It's about the desirability.
Sell less, and they become more valuable (look at the Wii, the VW Beetle and the BMW Mini when they 1st came out).
Next time you make / renew a product, you're going to have muppets queueing round the corner salivating like flesh hungry zombies.
You "claim" a shortage, and two days later more limited numbers arrive in store.
You sell shed loads, people think they're desirable, because they are "rare", but the stock flies out the store quicker that if there were thousands available in store, and no-one felt that they would be left out.
It's the economics of idiots. Treat someone like an idiot, but put an apple logo on it, and they will behave like idiots and fall for this vulgar marketing ploy
Except......
Tell that to Ferrari and Ford!
SUPRISE
Hold on, two of the most corrupt nations on the planet, are awarded billion dollar contracts from one of the most corrupt organisations on the planet...... and no-one saw that coming???
Anti-Virus
All this is well and good, but I would have liked to see a guide to installing av on a Linux distro!
Volume Licensing
We have a schools volume licence for 70 computers
Suddenly MS have given us 350 32bit and 350 64bit licenses.
Therefore we have 700 instances of Windows 7 that we have NOT deployed.
Whats the betting the we're part of the sales figures!
Dry Stone Walling
is still massively popular here in the Lake District!
Why do you need a keyboard in the first place
Touch typists... on the iphone? Surely it misses the point of an iphone as a basic internet tool. Your not going to be producing large word documents on a phone!
NOOOO!!!!
That is so smart. If the price was right I'd buy one, even with Vista on it!
Serves 'em right
for buying apple!
Why paris, because she's a dumb vacuous blonde trying to be achingly fashionable, but NOT that dumb / vacuous blonde and fashionable that she'd buy into this crap!
ZX80 anyone
I think Sir Clive Sinclair should sue over the design. It's white, so no doubt Apple will be claiming rights on it too!
Sorry to be perdantic but....
should the the line that reads "£4 per megabyte" be "£4 per megabit"???
XBOX anyone?
Thank goodness I have a 360, which has the rewards and in game messenging built in.
AND
A 3 year warantee as standard
ONLY 5000 per store???
How many jesus phones are O2 expecting to ship?
Nelson Mandela
I don't understand why leeds feels that it has to build a memorial to a former terrorist, what next, the Osama Bin Laden childrens playground?
and FYI el Reg, here in Britian, we spell Honour with a 'u'!!!
I'll be the one.........
Morris dancing outside
or not!
IPv6
This problem is going to be made a hell of a lot worse when IPv6 is the standard!
Time for a radical re-think me-thinks!
Paris would know the answer!
The BOFH back on form!
I wanted to be the first to say this, as no one's said it in a while!
Bargin Flight
If she was willing to pay £180 for a flight from Bristol then:
(1) The Bristol flight was damn cheap
(2) She's a complete donkey for not wanting to use the train
(3) She had it coming
Even So.....
does this mean that ONLY computers on the internet can be hacked??
You'll all be watching this film.....
Having downloaded it from an encrypted p2p site!
Lets face if, Hollywood complains that everyone is downloading their movies so they are losing money....
In reality... who'd pay to watch this rubbish???
Next in the sequel, John Connor is joined by Rambo (not the French philosopher)
I'll be back......
Poor woman......
Is only a nanny, not an IT expert! Its' not like she'd have realised to use several anonymous proxys etc!
Nobody will ever catch me muHAHAHA!!
@ SmokeyPcPotHead
Or me for that matter!
Robocop
I thought the gun from Robocop should have made the list, as well as the guns from the Tomb Raider films, if only for the reason that they were strapped to Angelina Jolies thighs, which has got to be cool!
NO NO NO
Mac is NOT a good option, unless you're a chav fanboy, in which case, it still isn't!
Collateral Damage
And how many people lost their jobs because of this???
Remove this book!
I had the misfortune / stupidity to buy "Greetings in Jesus Name!: The Scambaiter Letters"
Do yourself a favour and avoid like the plague.
The author is a right self satisfied twit, who has that sense of moral high ground exemplified in the dimwits who want to bring the country to a standstill with fuel protests.
Scam baiting should be left to law enforcement... or even to El Reg, not self appointed, smug git!
The stories aren't even amusing, I stopped reading after the author had made a young lad get a tattoo, was being SERIOUSLY threatened by the tattoist who wanted paying.
the lad wasn't even scamming, he'd asked for money, not tried to do a 419 scam!
In the end, I came away with the impression that the real loser was the author.
@ AndyB
All you're really saying, is that the Wii is a next gen handset, not a next gen console.
At best, it's a novelty. Played for the first few days, then confined to the attic unless "friends" want to see it. Once you've broken a couple of vases on your killer bowling action, given the wife a black eye on the boxing and got various bruises and aches and pains from the "realistic" movement required, the novelty value soon ware's off!
As for the arguement that there are too many different models of the proper NextGen consoles... what about the confusing number of "Wii-motes"... wow.... look at this one, it's shaped like a tennis racket... but wait, you can also play badminton... and squash, useless on any game that doesn't require a racket though.
Both the xbox 360 and PS3 are capable of apeing the wii, there is a reason they don't. It's because they are designed for people who are into games!
I can see the new PS3 or xBox advert
Games.... not gimics!
SPAM
I can't believe that El Reg is now displaying Spam advertising from Apple, and dressing it up as news!
I feel cheated and exploited.
60 Pints... is that all!
That only equates to 15 pints per day, the wee sissy girl!
Utter Rubbish!
Whats the point! I bet all the DRM'd music files you own won't stream, and the XBOX won't play .avi files, especially DIVX/XVID.
Plus,,,,, whats the betting you have to buy CALS like you do with Server 2003
(1) Pay for an XP license
(2) Pay for a Server license
(3) Pay EXTRA to connect the XP computer to the server.....
Am I the only one who smells a rat???
Typical
Why wait until after the launch of Halo to do this???
I've just bought a core, purely for Halo.
If I'd know that a newer model was about to be released, I'd have waited.
Microshaft, can I have my money back please?
Handcuffs....ok .... but how did they fingerprint him?
If he'd been stopped in England, they'd probably booked him for refusing to give fingerprints!
If they didn't prosecute him for being naked, was it due to insufficient evidence, or because it wouldn't stand up in court???
