Microsoft may slash price of Windows 8.1 on cheap 'slabs

Empires13

Microsoft needs to slash the price of its Enterprise Agreements.

Microsoft needs to slash the cost of its Enterprise Agreements or face the wrath of the public and future obsolescence. In this time of economic crisis and high unemployment where governments can't afford to keep essential services running why should companies of 1500 people spend close to $900,000 pa on Microsoft licensing when there are free and open source alternatives? Even if governments and companies selected Apple products it would be more fiscally responsible as Apple doesn't maintain the high annual "Microsoft Tax". I Personally would rather keep my job than use Microsoft Word ! I am not afraid of your SAM audits.

Microsoft, the people are not happy ! - The annual software taxes you have fostered on our governments and our businesses for years are "no longer an acceptable cost of doing business." We know how you abused your monopoly position in Tasmania and we are appalled !!

We the people have a choice and we say NO to expensive Microsoft !

Chumps

Anyone that buys a Windows Phone is a 'chump' who doesnt support innovation and change.... Look at the garbage that Microsoft pushed on us as a Phone prior to the iPhone. No development, no change for over 10 years. Even Microsoft representatives have admitted that they push a garbage OS in their 'tick' cycles. In buying Windows phone you are supporting the proliferation of garbage and insulting yourself as a consumer. Support platforms who care about the consumer and buy something else instead.

Very sick of Microsoft

I am personally sick to death of Microsoft. They think they can use their heavy handed tactics to influence the good work that the UK government is doing by supporting open formats just so they can force users to be kept on their high paying software roundabouts.

I expect that Microsoft will hit every government office in the UK with SAM audits (if the open standards pass), as punishment for daring to give people a choice. By doing this they will seek to sting the people by searching for every licensing breach they can find and hit the government hard with fines.

As IT Manager of a government department I once faced their heavy handed tactics and I have dedicated my life to making sure they don't do what they did to me to any other IT Manager or company on this earth. STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHT TO CHOOSE and SUPPORT OPEN DOCUMENT FORMATS !
