Presumably the seller made it pretty clear this was 'pre-order' or 'crowdfunding' ?
As long as the buyer is clearly made aware then PP cannot claim anyone was mislead, surely?
I couldn't possibly recommend PP to anyone as anything more than a hobby level payment solution, they're too much of a liability, like an apple app store for your money, it's up to them if they let you at it. I know many companies put big sums of money through them but I'd never trust them with my business' primary revenue.
We technical types will become elite again, as everyone puts their crap into the cloud and gets nothing done with it because all they have is a stupid bloody tablet to access it with and it can only do email, calendar, misunderstand your speech and angry birds and the other 50% of it only works in the USA.
No-one will know what applications actually are any more ;o)
Putting my rates up in 2013!
We just registered with the Mail Preference Service and the Telephone Preference Service - virtually zero junk either down the phone or through the door.
Anyone calls with unsolicited crap then they get this treatment which provides a perverse sense of smug satisfaction... http://focusrite.livejournal.com/1627.html
Pint for everyone!
I always wondered what stop-start cars did when stuck on the M1 for an hour.. do they really restart the engine every 2 car lengths and are they clever enough to know when stopping it means it might not have the juice to restart it?
Now I don't know how tight a seal the piston rings make but I'd have thought stopping the engine with a cylinder fully injected at top-dead-centre would perhaps allow you to restart the engine by kicking a spark into that cylinder if the engine was warm, rather than cranking the starter motor, allowing for many more restarts. Maybe the fuel vapour condenses too fast in the cylinder when left unignited.
Perhaps that's how they work. Dunno.. Ramble ramble
What annoys me most about Citibank is that's where I have to pay my VAT.
HMRC have ditched their Bank of England account and gone with Citibank. Nothing quite says 'we don't give a stuff about the economy' quite as much as all the VAT in the country being stored in the USA....
I'd have thought it was against the national interest to have that much UK money stored with a foreign interest.
Fail cos well, it's uk.gov, innit
I'll hang on for a Samsung Galaxy S3 I think (yes I know that's a phone). It'll be a free upgrade from Vodafone.
Then I'll have something nice and fast to play with while I assess a Transformer Infinity to see if it'll replace a laptop.
Seriously. That's a shit revision for a lot of money, it should've been called the iPad 2s
So it's OK for the gov to steal royalties from starving artisans but not joe public when a rich (and generous-to-politicans) corporation gets its shit downloaded by Joe Public who may never actually have bought it otherwise anyway...
Tidy, as they say in the Western Land of the Druids
So it now thinks it's more profitable to settle/play ball than sue.
Presumably either they've identified a gaping infringement liability in their stuff, realised they risk getting a shedload of patent invalidated or have noticed that a lot of people are being put off buying apple stuff by, errr... apple.
They don't strike me as a company that would play fair when there was $50 profit to be made.
the legal hoops HR have to go through in the process of making people redundant, consultation phases are mandatory, I believe, as are a few other things and all these things have to be seen and documented to be done before you can actually make people redundant otherwise you leave yourself open for unfair dismissal or a bunch of other no-win-no-fee lawyering from the dismissed.
For a UK user to have their 'Can Search Maps' app to search UK maps.
Especially as their device knows they're in the UK, speaking 'British' English (if they ever had the choice), etc.
I bet it installs stuff in French in France so to assume your device is properly localised is a reasonable thing.
It's half an application. So much for magical/revolutionary/whatever.
Utter fail.
Hahah yeah, I interpreted the headline as meaning fat chicks in jeans two sizes too small, too...
Shame someone can't actually fix that...
Anyone want to co-found a 'Take More Pride in Your Appearance' Quango/Research Unit ? Should be able to bag some uk.gov pork for 'studies' and 'awareness'... (pun intended)
Probably because they still own us after we hired them as cannon fodder in the second world war with a load of our gold and all of our US-based international interests...
Oh, and because our government has been spineless and suckup for decades now.
It's the 'Special Relationship' that the UK 'enjoys' with the USA
