Presumably the fact the BBC want to hide the info so badly

Is because the climate change Chihuahua's would be shown to be correct.

Which would make people who use phrases like 'Climate Change Debier Attack Dogs' seems a bit, well, like Apple fanbois or Creationists.

Oh, and it'd embarrass the Government immensely which is more likely the reason for the judgement.

It's also about time a distinction was drawn between Climate-sceptics and Anthro-sceptics. The former being folk who deny the bleeding obvious and the latter being folk rightly suspicious of the lobbying from a darn lucrative industry.

Firm-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's tax dodge profit shift? Totally legit

g e

Hmmm, or how about...

'Made in the UK'

A tax break based upon the amount of product creation you do in the UK. If, say, a product is 75% created in the UK then allow a tax break or other incentive.

Helps ensure a certain amount of work stays within the country which at least means jobs and PAYE stay within the country to some extent, too.

No, I haven't thought about this for longer than five minutes but it would seem to have merit on the surface. (This is where someone points out this already exists and doesn't work)

Welcome to Capitalism

It's legalised piss-taking, essentially.

I recognise that however much it's needed, change is not going to come as the ones who can effect change are the main beneficiaries of the status quo.

Hence I do what I can to play the game from the inside using its own rules, instead. Less than ideal but at least gains a little altitude on the greasy pole.

It's confusing

So, he's stating he's confused by a device he's never laid hands on.

Presumably he's VERY easily confused, then. Or perhaps just confused in general in a sort of senile dribbly way.

God knows WTF he means by 'compromised', perhaps he thinks it's populated internally by David Icke's lizard people or communists or Samsung employees.

What a twat.

Re: Multitouch?

Seeing as the display manufacturers obviously allow multitouch by design I don't see how any patent can be derived from it. It's even likely the manufacturers ship demo dev code with the units to show customers how to achieve it with their panels.

I suspect like other 'well known' organisations on the planet, that it's still cheaper for them to litigate than innovate at the moment.

As soon as the pain point is reached where the net revenues (or losses) of innovation vs litigation become more attractive then they will.

Researchers find not all EC2 instances are created equal

g e
Silver badge
Unhappy

Re: Anyone actually expect the hardware is the same?

You'd hope performance would be equivalent regardless of the hardware.

I have two micro instances, cpuinfo lists one as Xeon, one as AMD64 - when you do an apt safe-upgrade one is noticeably faster than the other, by maybe 50%. I'd previously assumed it was because one was running on free tier so you get a bit less bang for your buck but apparently not...

It does mean that if you're redeploying instances to other zones that you can't expect the same web-serving capacity as the machine you copied the instance from which is less than good.

Both my instances are in the same zone, too

Re: Why they withdrew the case? Easy.

Just imagine, if you (as a media strongarm organisation) lose the case and the law states:

The defendant shall be awarded damages and costs MULTIPLIED by the value obtained by dividing the plaintiff's financial resources by that of the defendant's.

So if the MAFIAA sues you and you have 1000 quid to your name and they have 100,000,000 then if you're awarded 2k costs/damages/etc then that's multiplied by 100,000 (their 100,000,000 divided by your 1000).

To be honest, just claiming your petrol/bus ticket/etc to the trial would suffice ;o)
