Never said the EFF broke the law. Come to thing about it, neither did Wikileaks. Mr Manning may have, but Wikileaks is not subject to US Law.
Just that the EFF sometimes have unpopular opinions, just like Wikileaks, If enough high powered people press Visa/MC to cut off the EFF... Then what happens.

Have an unpopular opinion? See your ability to raise donations cut off by the two largest payment processor networks.
Today its Wikileaks, tomorrow a criminal rights group? The EFF? A legal/rights reform group? A political party? A news organisation that refuses to drop a story that upsets a government?
I cant speak for HDMI, but I can speak for ADSL broadband. I have seen faster syncs on 10m High quality RJ11 cables than ISP supplied 2m RJ11 cables. There's more to it that it works, or doesn't - whether its enough to really have any massive effect over a short HDMI cable I'm yet to be convinced.
But I know what a "Cartridge World" sells, a "Burger King" sells, and before they changed the name, I knew what a "Kentucky fried Chicken" sold.
Its easier to introduce people to a new shop if they have a clue what the heck is in it - and thats exactly what Tesco was trying to do when they changed their name to something meaningful.
I have to disagree that its "common sense" - many countries see the value of prohibiting minors from seeing certain forms of media based on content - Kids really shouldn't be playing games like Manhunt. This would have just given the parents the ability to say no - if they still wanted to buy it for the kid, they could have.
(Then again, Noone should be playing Manhunt - simply because it was a bad game - I have no problem with adults playing violent games)>
Adults (Parents) almost always get to choose for their kids (until they're old enough to make sensible decisions) its always been that way, and always should be.
Its not as if Apps haven't caused a lock in before... Surely the most famous is the "Excel Lock-in" where finance departments refuse to consider anything other than Excel for Windows - hey look the OS developer is also making the app.
This is just an excuse for the author to engage in his favorite sport - Apple bashing for Apple bashing's sake with spirilous arguments.

I don't think Apple are playing the market share on this one - and I think its right that they don't.
Rather than the "All things to all men" angle that every other mobile maker tries, they're going for the Rolls Royce of phones
Could Rolls Royce make a cheap car? I'm sure they could, but it wouldn't really be a Rolls Royce despite the badge they put on it.

People buy an iPhone because its the iPhone. They buy an Android because they want a smartphone and don't particularly care which one.
The average user simply doesnt care if its open, or any of the other nonsense us geeks are concerned about. They just want it to make calls, and broadcast their locations and actions to all and sundry on facebook.

Apples current gaming success is in spite of Apple, not because of anything they've done.
They've had how long to actually formulate a gaming strategy, but keep restarting.

Your average person pees 1-2l per day, so lets presume for arguments sake that he was holding it in and did the full 2l. 2l into Goog says 7.8gallons is just over 35l, so 2l into 35 Million litres means that this water still probably had more crap in it than your average homeopathic "cure".
