With what they call 'Minis' nowadays, you can probably get a hell of a lot of Sumo wrestlers in one of them!

Not like in the old days when Minis were Minis and all this were nowt but fields!

Nice to see board games mentioned here, it's a shame that the majority of them seemed to be dungeon crawlers/tactical warfare kind. You missed out the worker placement games; the card drafting games; the deck builders; etc. etc.

As others have mentioned, head over to boardgamegeek.com to have your eyes truly opened as to what is out there!

Oh, and being a massive board gamer I resent being labelled a 'hipster'. :-P

"...and one saying that scientists are covering up mermaids."

I should hope they are covering up mermaids - those saucy lasses have always got their baps hanging out. No wonder they are such a danger to sailors!

My coat? Yes, it would be the bright yellow oilskin.

Re: "Windows is coming"

Almost right. When GRRM started ASOIF he was churning out the books at a reasonable rate: 2.5 years 'tixt books 1 and 2, then 1.5 years between books 2 and 3. Then I think his concentration must have wandered a bit, though, as between books 3 and 4 it took him 5 years, then six years to write the last one.

Your points do stand, though. He's certainly no spring chicken, nor particularly athletic. As for the TV series: I nearly stopped watching after S4 E5 because of the fluff they made out of Jon's and Bran's stories. :(

Re: How to avoid getting soaked in a storm

Really don't know what you're driving at with this but surely if both tress have been in the storm for roughly the same time then they will both get wet through at roughly the same time? Therefore you'd be walking out from under one dripping tree just to stand under another.

Doesn't sound like you're avoiding getting soaked!

Actually I have been there and done that in my good ol' Unreal Tournament days. I decided it cost too much to keep up with the Jones's.

Actually got a wave of nostalgia reading your post, though! Upvote from me! :)

Re: Question:@ForthisisNotDead

"But the decline of board games and the rise of computer games ..."

I know this isn't the best forum to argue about this, but I'm going to... :)

Interest in board games is definitely on the rise. Board gamers now have dedicated YouTube programs including Table Top (hosted by Wil Wheaton!) and Board with Life. Also, the UK Games Expo (predominantly board games, but also some roleplaying) had to move premises this year as the attendance numbers were to high for their previous venue!

I much prefer board games to video games. They cost about the same and I don't need to upgrade my PC when new ones come out!

Oh, and if you think board games are just Monopoly, Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit then you are sorely mistaken! :)

You are quite right that people shouldn't let their children play age inappropriate games. People who do that and then moan that kids are badly affected by video games are just stupid.
