"My response to the idea of getting rid of optical drives? No."
You're not a Windows user by any chance?
Use BSD/Linux here and don't think I've used optical media for sometime now as I always installed from USB media as it's smaller and, a heck of a lot quicker to install a distro from.
The only time I may needed to have used a CD for install would be on an old pre-USB bootable machine. None of my PC's have optical now...
Customer: "Can we have faster/cheaper internet please?"
Telcos: "Sorry but we are giving you the best experience we can provide - we can't afford better because of overseas data pricing and we make next to nothing at the end of the day blah, blah, blah..."
I guess this mantra is heard worldwide while telco's rake it in and hold their captive audiences to ransome whilst bleating poverty.
Also there should be some law introduced to actually ban donations from industry altogether. Democracy is there for the good of all people, not just for fatcats with a wad of cash.
I started with an Acorn Atom which I built from a kitset then moved later to a BBC Micro B when I could afford the 400 quid asking price. I hated Yank computers and considered Spectrums as toys, Acorn computers were the best IMHO.
I still believe the computer world would have been far more advanced now under the influence of Hauser & Curry than the mess which has evolved under Gates & Ballmer.
"How about, instead of silly antics, these people sit down and make Linux a viable desktop alternative for my Mum, my partner or my 12yo"
How about u get your head out your ass and take a look around and smell the roses!
Linux Mint would do most Windows users, whats so special that you can't (or won't) use an easy and complete distro like that?
And i bet you can't play Wizards101 on fukin apple stuff either but a shit load of people have them and don't fukin care about the damn games.
Forget Stallman, look at it like this, using Windows is like bending over and picking up the soap in a gay sauna shower...
Reminds me of the time when you joined an online service that asked for your email address and they said it was safe as they "did not share or onsell your personal email details". Yes really, and they all used to sell email addresses by the database load to interested parties. Bunch of fuckin etard liers.

2. Ten years smells of Hollywood influence in the US justice system.
3. Celebs can now feel safe knowing their "soon to be accidently released self-nudes" are safe from the perverted minds of hackers.
4. Don't pick up the soap in the shower.
