Re: Oh, this old chestnut
You mean like you can with Android?
Re: Well done Sony.
The Xbox one idea of digital sales limited resale ect could go 2 ways.
Positive:- we get a "Steam" type offering with lower cost games and great sales with some pro owned market style stuff on both our Physical and Digital titles, and lets face it will that be different on the Steam box when that comes out?
Negative:- we get gouged and have to pay £50+ for games we cannot resale.
If the forma happens it could be good for Microsoft and us gamers and lets face it who in general doesn't like steam? Or the Latter that could end badly for Microsoft
Re: Sonic Screwdriver
My comment was to the sonic screwdriver comment. If you watch Dr Who you know that the sonic screwdriver cannot open a "Deadlocked" lock
Re: Sonic Screwdriver
This is why you should dead lock the car!
Re: Used games
Almost my entire game collection is used, and CEX has managed to build a very successful chain of stores JUST selling used games, so I would say a good amount, even places like Asda and Tesco now sell 2nd hand games!
Re: @Hairy Spod
Also on Steam brand new titles come out for significantly less AND they have awesome sales. Will we see 75% reduction on games for this? No, they will still be £45+
Re: Baby steps
I am all for the blocking of illegal sites, though last time I checked it wasn't yet illegal to look at porn
So with this coming into play, how long until the Great British Firewall is setup? Does the automatic blocking of content not go against some European legislation or even human rights somewhere?
Re: To be fair to MS...
Android has not "Won" the mobile war, it is just the current market leader in total volume, Apple still make the lions share of the profits (eroding though I am sure) and as like with Apple someone could come out with some good software and a compelling reason to get peoples attention and do the exact same as Android did to Apple to Android
Re: Desktops will never disappear
Desktops will be around for a long time still, it is laptops that tablets will replace. The desktop will still be a main work device/ proper gaming device, with your "Lapblet being the portable consumption device.
May I just point out that is would actually be pronounced JIF in the English language since the G is followed by a I as in Giraffe.
My Nexus 7 has a keyboard case, no need for a mouse really though with the touch screen though you could use one
I was playing with the Asus w510, seems like a nice piece of kit, maybe on the small side at 10.1in though I am not sure I would want much larger for what is really designed to be a portable device
You have to wonder what these hybrid devices count as. I am actually quite keen on something like a Asus Vivopad smart though it would need significantly more HDD space to replace my work machine.
Re: @Suricou Raven In a word...
As you say the extra electric used is likely to amount to peanuts, though if the stress of maxing your GPU's constantly over a 2 week period could have really shortened the life span of the card/s and maybe even blew a couple! And as you say, these are likely to not be cheap cards either!
Re: Why not...
Because would you use a program that maxed your VERY power hungry GPU (this is a competitive gaming program so the rigs will be monsters) constantly meaning the power bill was huge AND your VERY expensive GPU has its operating life shorted significantly
Call me paranoid
Though aren't some of Apples patents much more obvious and if this was a Apple patent would it be considered too obvious too?
I have had a cheap unbranded Tablet before for sub £150, it was plagued with issues. Half the time you couldn't get wireless, it crashed randomly and the advertised 8 gig ended up being 4! It got returned for a full refund and I got a Nexus 7 instead, my personally experience would go with the old you get what you pay for.
Why would a google "Smart" product run anything else? especially if it will sync with a google phone?
Re: Everyone keeps forgetting...
Just because people choose not to buy apple products does not make then "Jealous poor" I have a iPhone as a work phone and I got my wife a iPhone too, I personally hate the thing, it is great for things like browsing and apps and stuff, it is awful at 2 key thing i use it for though. Making phone calls (Call failed pisses me off especially when i have an almost full signal!!!) and sending text messages. (I have dyslexia so rely on auto correct that is woefully inaccurate)
Re: Everyone keeps forgetting...
Apple is overpriced and makes its money by ripping off its consumer base?
That explained why after running a Malwarebytes scan my pc got crippled and I had to do a system restore!
Re: 20% already own a tablet...
I actually think we will see a growth of tablets with a drop of laptop sales, desktops will always keep there place for serious work like high end graphics and gaming, the tablet with attachable keyboard will soon make the laptop a thing of the past.
Being in IT Sales I find having a 7in tablet loads better than lugging my 17in HP brick of a laptop around with me for meetings, Tablets are very handy for more than just casual games and reading books.
I would have to disagree, the android ecosystem is now very well integrated. When I picked up my Nexus 7 i just logged into my google account, it setup my contacts from my phone and setup all my apps, it even setup my wireless from all taken from my HTC Desire C, I can even go to the google play website and download apps to my devices easily, not sure what more integration you may need?
Shut up and take my money!!!!!!
I remember when "Skipping" a track you didn't like meant fast forwarding the cassette!
Thing is as tech moves on a wearable "Wrist" computer with something like a holo display may be kind of awesome, however current tech it would just look kind of sad
Re: "The firs developers that do this will make a lot of money".
The problem is people don't want adds though also won't pay much more than a pound for a app, when was the last time you downloaded a app for £2/3?
Funny, just checked on my Nexus 7 (you know the stock android one?!?!) and I can disable all the google stuff, even the play store
Re: MS lashes out
What do you mean? Microsoft has always been like this being honest, they are all as bad as each other really
Re: Hang On
Thing is, do you REALLY want more options while setting up? I dislike the browser choice thing for IE too, if I want Chrome, I download it. I don't want to spend ages choosing all my default apps when I buy a phone, I just download the ones I want and disable the ones I don't. Simples!
Re: Forcing users to choose the Chocolate Factory's map, email and video services
Did you really say and mean Google is competing unfairly by forcing people to use Android on a Android phone? really?
Last time I checked didn't Winmo default to using Bing search and Bing Maps and Nokia to Nokia Maps??? isn't this the pot calling the kettle black? I mean hell Apple dictate you use Apple Maps and Safari though with all these if you really want you can change them!
Re: Its an Apple (tm) put up job
Well Jobs did want Thermonuclear war vs them and google!
Re: To fix the problem
Actually all for being part of the EU, no idea where I am going to vote though really doubt it would be UKIP though. To be honest all the major political parties at the moment are unappealing!
Re: To fix the problem
That is because it is only part of a solution, that's the bit about fixing benefits and the benefit culture, I also think we need to spend more on growth and industry like this high speed railway, also the minimum wage needs raising too to encourage people to get into work.
You don't cut to grow, money in for money out, we have a real problem with people thinking it is fine to live on benefits and to pop out kids for money. There is actually someone with 11 kids and lives on benefits and has for the past 7 years getting over £600 a week! I am in a well paid sales job and don't get that kind of money!
To fix the problem
We need to sort out benefits! Cap child benefit at 2 kids and just give job seekers food stamps, and if someone is found the be defrauding the benefits office disallow them from ever claiming again. Also make it a requirement to actually have worked in the UK for a period of time before allowing someone to claim!
LG announced it first, the one first to market would be the S4
So you're telling me if I google "ebay" then ebay will be at the top??? if I google some other smaller company name like say "Forbidden planet" that too is the top, not even a paid add too!! How is this news?
What about if I googled online auctions? ebay aren't top then so in this case a paid ad may actually be beneficial!
Re: multimillionaire seeks funding?
I think it is more about seeing if the market is there, also why spend your own money when people are so willing to just give it to you!
