Moral of the story...
Lock down your WiFi. I have no sympathy for idiots - and in this day and age ignorance is no excuse. Just try something with the revenue and customs, and use that excuse, see how far it gets you.
As for the fine - its pathetic, why even bother. Well i do really know, large fines would put off companies from being in the country, so we can put up with some stuff for the money they bring into the country.
The tax laws are open to all...
Create your own multi-national, billion dollar business and you can do that as well. But its you who has to take the risks etc. MP's also take full advantage of this... so i doubt laws will be changed.
Fantastic - except...
1) Cheap and nasty phone resolution
2) Modified microUSB lead
Both of those are pretty much show-stoppers for me.
Fail - because you snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - this has been the only 'driod device i have seen that would tempt me away from Apple.
WHAT. THE. FUCK.
How many back handers, kick-backs and bribes were involved to win that.
I call foul on that.
i dont want more FB integration - i honestly dont care what you ate for breakfast. Just create an app that works properly. Preferably one that doesnt crash.
Because isnt a 'stock on the way down' icon - there so should be
M$, Blackberry and Intel
M$ Killed by Apple,
Blackberry Killed by Apple,
Intel - oddly killed by ARM
Way overpriced, and people dont need that much power - lets move over to low power, low heat and low power systems. Noisy computers are so 2004.
twitter and music together like...
A slice of bread and 3/8" Ratchet.
On twitter, like Facebook, i dont care what you are listening to, cos its crap - please see Gangnam style et al. Please include all k-pop, j-pop & pop music in general. Also refer this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uSlqI1AVUk for more information.
The only good that may come of this, is that a load of hipsters might drown in the mainstream.
Fail, because everything does.
The reality is...
until we invent / discover a better source of power, a 'vacuum propeller' and we all work together, we are going to be stuck in the local area.
Mind you, given that it looks like something / someone a while back was re-fueling at our sun, do we really want to get to far out there.... now where is my tin-foil hat.
ka-boom, cos thats all we can manage at the moment - firework on a stick :D
Its Apple that needs this, not Google.
and i am a fan of Apple products.
Fail - because Apple maps does. I think they secretly got M$ to do it.
We already have a system that you pay more the more you drive...
Its called fuel duty, and takes up 75-ish % of the cost of fuel. Not only that - you also pay tax on that tax in the form of VAT. (Write to your MP's and point it out - its makes them squirm.)
Quite frankly the idea of 'road tax' is one giant 'bend over, here it comes'.
We should not be paying any tax to own a car - there is far too much on fuel as it is - think its bad where you are, try fuelling up in remote areas...
Fail, because we are all being shafted.
all jobs are shit, i only work cos i need money. If i had enough i wouldnt work.
The only parameter that is open for interpretation is 'enough' If you are still working you dont have enough.
Are these the same people...
Who said - cannot find any use for a tablet when apple released the iPad?
Eastenders and the rest of the slushy, brain meltingly shitty soap operas were rendered unwatchable. That way i could save the license fee and just use NetFlix, love film and be Advert free.
I have to admit, the only thing i would miss is Top Gear, iPlayer is available for now, but who knows how long it that will last if many people stop paying license fees.
So, you are making people pay for the news...
or they can get it from X,y,z for free. Still i am sure the fact you only need 1 server now to handle the 3 users you have left will make the accountants happy.
Tards, FAIL for obvious reasons.
Things i dont want...
1) Red hot poker inserted anywhere.
2) Cold poker inserted anywhere.
3) All my web surfing / details sent to M$.
Plus its all on Apple devices, so M$ would only be unhappy :D
Free press is like communism...
a good idea in principle, but fails when people get involved who cannot keep their hands out of the cookie jar - like in all soups, scum rises to the top
and like communists, journalists need to be shot on sight.
4G - what is the point...
4G is totally pointless, on my phone i look at twitter, facebook, email and some web. Mega fast broadband is not going to help me. The dumb limits on 4G prevent you from streaming anything / downloading anything.
So i reiterate - what is the point. I would rather the mobile companies spent the money getting us 3G everywhere, i dont just mean 98% of the population, i mean everywhere.
Also, try Three out in the wilds of scotland and Shetland - you will be glad you went with Vodafone or O2.
The Dancing Pony add is a case in point - I know where its filmed on Shetland and i can tell you there is bugger all Three signal there. I was thinking of complaining to the ASA about it. :D
1) We are told about it
2) There is a patch.
Unlike another company(s) i could mention, that wouldnt tell you and release a patch 6 months from now once a load of machines are compromised.
Exists only to be nasty...
No, it also has playmobile models.
If you can stand the heat, dont be a pretentious twat - and get orf the internet :D
You are completely correct - i have done exactly the same, with a Jeep grand Cherokee I think i put around £15 of petrol in it a week on average. (I would like to quote clarkson - yes, you can buy a car that does 70mpg, and tell people about it - but you look a giant c**t driving it.)
To be honest, i was thinking what a great EV car, until this paragraph, 'On top of that you’ll need to find £70 a month for the cheapest 36-month battery lease' WTF might as well buy something bluemotion / small. That is just a joke, on top of the electricity you have to pay, made it awesome and cheap to something pointless.
Everyone knows the UK invented the modern world.
that windows 8 has bombed, it will never seen any real corporate use - Lenovo knows it, everyone knows it.
I wonder how it feels at M$ not talking about the elephant in the room, when its trumpeting over the conversations, and shitting all over the computers there. Maybe they use macs :D
I hated google reader, and i wanted my RSS Feeds over many devices - so i built my own Cloud-based RSS feed reading system. I need to get on and make it commercially viable now.
Re: Maybe if they bought relevant ads?
'Now available with free worldwide shipping from North Korea......'
Given normal North Korean quality, it would have to be 'for collection only'
Why is the distance in Km??? We work in miles last time i checked. Try not to be Eurotards please.
'meaning customers will be naked and vulnerable to hackers and viruses'
How is that different to running Vista, windoze 7 or 8???
By the time you have messed about...
Stick a gun the users head outside and ask for the password.
No point in bringing a knife to a gun fight.
Ok, lets get this clear for people...
There are only 3 certain things....
3) M$ products are crap.*
You are not going to get out of this life alive, so go and enjoy yourself.
* Added to try to make it a bit about computers.
Who you are, who you were or what you did...
so long and thanks for all the fish - enjoy your new job doing whatever it is you do.
Re: Chromebook is doing what Surface was supposed to do...
holy crap - he certainly aint up on modern web design, i think 1995 called and wanted its god-awful website back.
El Reg is basically the Daily Mail with added computers - if you didnt know that, then you are really in the wrong place.
I have been less than impressed with icloud, i personally preferred mobileMe.
icloud might be free but you get what you pay for.
spending 8.1 Milllllllion whatevers should mean the tape(s) are not empty or just contain readme.txt when you need to get something off them.
Now, first prize to anyone who can span all the tapes using tar and gzip WITHOUT looking at google for the command line switches :D
1) Tell everyone the cameras are down, been not working for 2 weeks - really hard to fix. woe is us.
2) Profit from idiots who now speed
i might be a tad paranoid though.
So much easier to just burn the methanol... which my V8 will use (give or take)
- or, just thinking out loud here -
what i would really like is a methanol (Alcohol) powered car, with a hydrogen powered fuel cell for city driving (Where my car is not overly efficient, ahem), then just run my V8 for country roads / off road where power is required. Bingo, problem solved.
the home of dumb ideas - are these people promoted out of the way so we can actually get on with things?
zOMFG - we dont even have 3G where i am, how about getting the network(s) up to some kinda of standard first.
When will the studios realise...
1) There stuffs effective value is 0, you can get it for free, from a torrent site and play it anywhere. (Stuff is worth way people are willing to pay for it.)
2) DRM is pointless, it just annoys people like me who are willing to pay something for viewing/listening to top quality stuff, on anything i want in any format i want. If i cannot get it how i want it for the device i want it on, see point 1
3) CD's in the 1990's made the prices too high, see point 1
4) Dont do any DRM, save the money on paying for it, make all your stuff available for a few pounds, and see lots more money come in. Lets face it would you rather sell 1 at £20 or 10000 at £2.
People in entertainment land need to realise there methods of payment / distribution died 10 years ago. No matter what you do its not coming back.
If you go in to McDonalds
Then you need to be beaten up anyway for being a chav / ned.
Dont have 3G...
Where i live, maybe 1 day we will get it or 4G not holding my breath though.
To be honest, 3G is plenty fast enough, i have 1G data limit, so i cannot really stream films / iPlayer etc. so whats the point? I get emails / read news / read twitter / facebook - alll of which work very well on 3G.
Plus, the plan are crap for 4G, will have to come down to what i pay now before i am interested.
I hope he does.
Libre office for Mac...
is great, i bought M$ office for the Mac, then junked it for Libre office - it worked fine but i just prefer it.
Does everything i need it too, and sometimes i swap files with work plebs and walking pound signs, sorry i mean customers and they are none the wiser that i dont use office, not been a problem as of yet.
If there is a problem, i will probably head in the direction of office365, but it would have to be a major problem. and i would use Safari just to annoy M$ :D
