Re: Aircon Leaks

Let me recap this to make sure I haven't gone astray:

Sounds to me like you've got it right. (BTW, if you're thinking what I am, I'm right there with you. Self-righteousness must be a really nice place to be).

Waiter? There's a mouse in my motherboard and this server is greasy!

Vet Office

I had to go to a Vet Office once when a "server" went down. The server turned out to be a 286 that the other pcs were connected to by a token ring network. It was the favorite spot for a cat that they had rescued, to lay. There was so much hair in it that you could not get a floopy disk in the drive (maybe 1/2 way in was as far as it would go). Opened the case and could not see the motherboard for the hair that was packed on top of it. ;^)

Seriously? Doesn't he have more important things to do that Twitter?

Let's vote on breaking up Google, say MEPs with NO power to do any such thing

Precedent has been set...

<quote>The thing is, we've been here before, nearly 15 years ago, when it was decided that by bundling their internet browser with their OS, Microsoft had become a monopoly and were engaging in practices contrary to competition law.</quote>

There lies the rub........there ARE choices. One does not HAVE to type http://google.com into the address bar and press return. With MS, there was no alternative installed. To hit the web you used what you had, which was IE.

On the matter of shooting down Amazon delivery drones with shotguns

dan_in _ohio

Good Article.

As an avid Trapshooter, I can attest to the accuracy of the Shotgun information listed here. Hitting a clay at a distance of 50+ yards IS POSSIBLE but, the chances that there is enough kenetic energy left in the shot to actually break it comes more under chance that the target has a weak spot than anything else. Even with a trap gun that is ported, back bored, and has had every trick that a fine gunsmith can dream up, is not going to help much. Using shot of a larger diameter than is ATA legal (more than 1 1/4 oz of 7 1/2 shot 3 DRAM load) might help but, I'm not into the self abuse of shooting high power shells on regular basis (recoil in NOT your friend.)

BTW lead shot is not outlawed or hard to find in the US & we use machines that sift the ground and recover much of this lead.

$449?

I could buy a very nice Washburn WD30cse acoustic guitar for that & I bet it would give me a lot more enjoyment than Windows 8! ;^)

Re: Aaaargh, why dont they listen?

That's wonderful! Are you using it for a business or are you an individual that uses Facebook and Angry Bird "apps" all day? I, use it for actual "work" & I have a large variety of users to support and I can do without the calls of "I can't find (name your own program of choice). This abortion was designed for home users, not for businesses. I'll keep on using Classic Shell.

BTW, I actually like server 2012 and Windows 8. I just hate the new user interfarce. Whose idea was it to put it in Server 2012 anyway? Have to go to Metro (yeah whatever) then click something that goes right back to the desktop to run. There are NO apps for servers (and I won't have any on mine).

Apple asked me for my BANK statements, says outraged reader

WTF?

Are they totally nuts?

I walked out of Radio Shack without purchasing a switch once because they "required" my phone number and name to make a purchase. I told them to go to h3!!. No way I'd buy an Apple product after hearing this. Businesses do not need that kind of personal info.
