Been there done it.
1983
Arrives with Sales team 5 days before to build the stand, a 1500 piece aluminium Geodisic dome. Salesmen bugger off and leave me to it as I'm the engineer. Spend next 5 days dawn to dusk building the bloody thing and setting data links up back to UK. Being 7 hours in front meant a really early start. 4 days on stand dawn to dusk then 3 days dismantling and repacking stand dawn to dusk.
All I saw in 2 weeks was the hotel, cabs and inside of the exhibition hall. Could've been anywhere.
1985
Different complicated stand, rectangular with a central tower. Exact same scenario.
Remember, we in the UK once had an telecoms electronics industry. It was GEC Marconi and the main customer was BT
The deal BT got from Huawei was too good and could never be matched by GEC. We all know what happened to GEC
So, I believe Huawei were / are predatory and will do say or anything to get a contract. I would trust them as far as they could be thrown.
My 2p worth
Ok, let's assume it is costing Billions of Matebele Beans (insert currency here). What I'd like to know is who the hell is going to pay for it?
This still has hallmarks of technical solution looking for a problem. Do the Phone Companies cost models take into account that their sheep will continually pay more and more for their access to Facebook and that's enough to justify spending vast sums....
I know I won't
Staggers outside and wonders what percentage of the population will voluntarily say yes, I'll be happy to pay another £7.00 per month. If the ISP's are struggling to get more than 25% onto VDSL, what chance has FTTP got.
Then the cost would need to be shared amongst those that take up FTTP, and we still end up with a 2 tier network. So unless everybody goes FTTP with the same wholesale cost, there will be major implications for the Business Case.
BT are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

I got one, and like it it, but.....
1. GPS sucks. The free dongle isn't exactly small.
2. 3G Dongles can only be used if you screw around in root and then that breaks warranty....AND they can't be used in Tablet, only with the USB on the Dock.
I'm really not happy. I hope they fix those in TF300 and subsequent
