Hurrah!

My phone had been delivered back to me fixed yesterday!

Looks like they just updated some software rather than a hardware fix, maybe there was a wonky android patch released.

Bugger

Bought Swift 2X in November to replace 2 which has smashed screen. Fingerprint reader stopped working mid Jan so I sent it in for repair on 22nd January.

Hopefully there will be an update on phones in for repair.

Useful in specific circumstances

I have two of the Amazon dash buttons..

House with three kids, bog roll disappears at an exponential rate. When down to last 9 pack press button stuck to the wall of the cupboard, crisis averted. Also have one for dishwasher tablets that seem to run out at inconvenient times (3 kids make an awful lot of washing up). Could do with one for washing powder too but we only use one brand and they don't do a button for it. I must remember to look for a tomato ketchup dash button too...

Ordering from Amazon is actually cheaper than going to get them myself.

I presume getting the condom dispensing button means you won't find yourself needing to have a bog roll one in years to come!

Software doesn't work anyway

All very well upgrading your firmware, but my phone won't talk to the PC anyway. the Kies software has some sort of a conflict with win7 you need to run an older version of kies or a newer firmware, but you can't upgrade the firmware without Kies (and vodafone won't like you).

Fortunately you can sync everything via google, and the google calendar sync app sticks it all into outlook at the other end. Just need a way to get photos across without taking the back off the phone to get the SD out.

Alert

Not just electrical cables

A few weeks ago some thieves tried to steal a great big pipe from the cellar of the hospital i work at. As they sawed away they heard some hissing and gave up. The nice big pipe was the gas main feeding the entire hospital.

The gas leak was discovered by two people sneaking into the cellar for an illicit fag (banned on hospital property anyway). Fortunately they didn't try to light up!

Opening hours

My local Royal mail depot has changed its opening hours to fit in with the new national working practices. Conveniently open at 8AM, but only for the British gas engineers who collect all their parts from the depot now there's no BG facility in the area. We of the general public are allowed in from 0830, and they have a very convenient closing time of 1700. At weekends it's 0830 to 1200.

The posties don't usually deliver the post until 1PM anyway, so if you get a card left with wait 4 hours before coming to collect, you just have to forget about it until the next day.

Someone should point out to these people in the service industry that they are meant to be providing a service.
