Re: anti-piracy ads

I've never understood the rationale behind putting anti-piracy ads on legitimate content.

If someone has bought legitimate licensed content, then that is precisely the audience that doesn't need to be inconvenienced with two minutes of nonsense like "You wouldn't download a car would you?".

Re: DRM Doesn't work

As has been demonstrated by big content providers time and time again.

I'm still sore about the BBC's DRM on their iplayer content. No time shifted viewing of the Royal Institute Christmas Lectures for me! :(

P2P badboys The Pirate Bay kicked out of Greenland: Took under 48 hours

Crisp

Re: why is it illegal?

ThePirateBay is sometimes the only way to recover media for something that you've legitimately bought.

My old copy of Starcraft and Brood Wars still entitles me to play the game, even though the CD's that the game came on died a death a long time ago.

ThePirateBay.se down?

If only there was another way of accessing their website...

Maybe something like a series of four octets that would allow you to access the site no matter what the DNS name was.

Edit: I should have read JDX's post.

Re: Should simply say

The Looking for Group tool was the death knell of the social aspect of the game.

Before that, you got to know people. Some you'd avoid like the plague because they were ninja looting scum, and others you would bend over backwards to run a dungeon with because they were so damn good. People got reputations.

Now all you have to do is click a button and you end up in a team of people that don't try because they've not had to put any effort into getting a group together.

US judge: no class action against tech giants' 'wage-control pact'

Spooky action at a distance is faster than light

Crisp
Silver badge

Is this an actual physical effect or a mathematical one?

The intersection of a pair of scissors can travel faster than light, but seeing as it's just a geometric point along two lines, it's not an actual thing, and therefore can travel as fast as it likes.

Is this "information transfer" something similar? As nothing physical is actually being transmitted between Alice and Bob.
