Hate Facebook? Hate it enough to spend $9k fleeing it? Web 'country club' built for the rich

ashdav

Give James Touchi-Peters his due.(Is that a real name?).

He's just trying to make a few quid.

If he rips off the gullible/narcissistic rich rather than the plebs who cares?

Sideload any apps you want via apk and uninstall everything Google.

Works fine for me and the battery lasts 3 times as long.

Gave you an upvote anyway

Kickstarter has now joined Farcebook and Twatter as the hangout of fools.

Kudos to Mr Brown though for having a laugh.

Google hit by class action lawsuit over claimed AdSense fraud

Google? Pfft!

Samsung Galaxy S2

Cyanogen Mod (KItkat)

Opera (with Adblock)

IxQuick search

Apps installed via APK (no Play Store)

Totally Google free and the battery life is tripled between recharges.

Similar on the PC.

Who needs Google. (I know IxQuick scrape them but...)

Report: Climate change has already hit USA - and time is RUNNING OUT

ashdav

Re: Marvin would love this news

It's not "Global Warming/Climate Change" that's the issue.

Or " running out of resources"

It's "Global Population is out of control.".

Through the well meaning advances of medicine the Darwinian concept of the survival of the fittest has been negated.

Firefox, is that you? Version 29 looks rather like a certain shiny rival

Re: Navigation buttons locked to address bar

There is an excellent fork of Firefox called Palemoon.

The developer has categorically stated that he will NEVER implement Australis.

Works well for me. Even has a migration tool to import your Firefox profile.

Google Glass Mk2, a socket in your neck.

Do you want the blue one or the red one?

What is this for?

(If you down vote this then you've already drunk the Koolade and you don't know where it's going).

You TWITS! Facebook exec erects billboards shaming texting drivers

ashdav

If you are driving your car then that is all you should be doing.

If you, are farcing or twatting your "friends" then pull over and do it to your hearts content.

This "SOCIAL NETWORKS" rubbish will end soon anyway when the plebs realise that everything they FACE or TWEET will come back to them.

It's already started, do a search using your favourite engine.......

I've just uninstalled the offending update KB2823324 ,like a good citizen.

Restarted as requested and lo and behold Windows Update offered it to me again!

Wasn't causing a problem anyway. I'll leave it off for now and see what transpires.

Chrome passes Firefox in global browser share

ashdav

As Chrome is also included with a lot of software people will install on their computers without thinking (and I've never seen Firefox bundled in that way) I'm not suprised at the results.

Call me a cynic but....

Definition of "usage"

Surely if browser "usage" is the benchmark here them Firefox plus Adblock and/or NoScript will naturally have less results than Chrome and its umpteen adserver connections.

Methinks the results have been skewed.

A far more meaningful survey would be site visits surely.
