Ah the 6809E, what a dream to program for (proper 16bit index registers) compared to the 6502 and you could software over-clock it too but you would lose video sync in certain graphics modes.

Reg ed, can we have a tears of nostalgia image just for this feature ?

Re: WTF?

Yep agree with that entirely and as MS has just extended consumer W7 support to the same as commercial then there is absolutely no reason to upgrade (cough) to W8. W7 is the next XP.

As for openSUSE chuck in compiz 0.8.8 ( c++ version is crap and buggy for kde and kwin is still not as slick) add glx-dock and you have a great desktop UI.

Re: Re: Utter Testicles

I'll repeat this as you obviously missed it:

Elephants are large and the Serengeti is damn hot.

I've never seen a camel the size of a chihuahua and it gets over 50 celsius in the Sahara.

These are both mammals the last time I looked or has taxonomy taken some weird twist and classified them as cephalopoda while I was holidaying on the Moon ?

This paper deserves star billing on http://www.badscience.net/ as it's complete and utter crap.

Re: It's all to do with surface-area to volume ratios

Really ?

It's pretty bloody hot on the plains of the Serengeti but elephants are quite big aren't they ?

Anyone considered an alternative hypothesis where there may have been a food shortage thus a smaller body requires less calories.

What are the tablet designers on ?

I have an Ipad2 which the biggest pain in the ass is no external storage provision, just to add I did not buy this and would not have for this exact reason. This feature is top of my list for my next tablet purchase and anything missing it will be scrubbed from the list.

Try again Motoraola.

Comet 'sold 94,000 pirate Windows CDs', claims Microsoft

Alan Smithie
Megaphone

Errrrrrrrrrr!

Considering this was you opening assertion:

"You do know that Microsoft doesn't sell computers, right?"

It's not a smug definition, it's a correction on your basic understanding of what a computer is, which would appear to be somewhat wanting.

PS recovery discs don't help with the red ring of death.

Errr....

Yes the do technically, XBOX's.

Computer - An electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form, according to instructions given to it in a variable program.

It's not the OEMs bleating about a retailer helping a valid customer recover their bought and paid for machine which MS gets a slice of the price.

I will also lay you a wager that MS stipulate the installation method for the OEM.

As for call centrers - never us em as it's a muppet on the other end of the line, regardless of nationality

MS cost cutting exercise

You buy an OEM copy of Windows, you get a disc.

Buy a laptop preloaded with Windows and crapware you get fiddled out of hard disc space thanks to the recovery partition and at your own expense and time you have to burn recovery disks.

It's corporate arshole thinking like this that moved me onto Linux years ago.

MS if I were you I would listen to Comet as they actually sell the fucking things and deal with costumers face to face rather than some shitty call centre in India. Looks like MS is learning from Sony's "how the shaft the customer" manual.

Weak Sony PS Vita sales prompt price-cuts

Alan Smithie
Megaphone

Yes I Got Proof

I own a Sony Vaio (sadly), it has crippled stereo mix at the realtek driver level as Sony ask realtek to blacklist the feature for sony hardware even in their generic drivers. They also pull the same trick with ATI video drivers in that you cannot install the generic driver as Sony again ask them to black list it so you cannot get any new driver features such as flash hardware acceleration as sony are completely shit at updating the drivers on their website. Go look up NW11/SS and see the drivers.

I will never buy anything Sony again.

Antarctic ice formed at CO2 levels much higher than today's

Alan Smithie
Headmaster

And ?

I hope you learned during your degree (in what, fine arts ?) that anything in applied mathematics is subject to confidence limits. The variables in climatic models are still to poorly understood and compounded errors in each variable will cause a fundamental systematic error, ie over pessimistic forecasting.

PS my degree was in biochemistry and I understand enzymes and chemical reactions perfectly well and the damn difficulty in trying to model a system on the bench, let alone the entire ecosystem.

Heisenberg uncertainty principle states a fundamental limit on the accuracy with which certain pairs of physical properties of a particle, such as position and momentum, can be simultaneously known. In other words, the more precisely one property is measured, the less precisely the other can be controlled, determined, or known.

It's a fact of life in chemistry, that's why there is no thing as a 100% yield.

Butterflies Wings

Climate models are fatally flawed as they are far too simple. Yes there may be a minute bit caused by CO2 but there are far larger forces at work and ones that are incorrectly factored into the models.

Too much Newton and not enough Schroedinger.
