L. Page Article Questioned in Global Forum

Dear Lewis Page:

--I am a poster over at EEVBlog. I posted a link to your article there and have been discussing same. Some of the posters say that there are no down lights on 5A circuits which use use more standby power than a TV. The Link to the thread is: http://www.eevblog.com/forum/general-chat/standby-power-for-tv-and-net-devices-in-perspective/ Have a read and send me some links for source material, if you would please, so I can continue to defend the accuracy of your fine article. Or post another article, and let me know. Best Regards

What should a sci-fi spaceship REALLY look like?

Sci Fi Props Old School

Greetings Regies:

--When I was a lad, I suspended any disbelief months before a movie even came to town. I remember a Japanese Space Oater, The Mysterians, I think, where a man is a metalized rubber suit played a giant alien robot. I would watch and think "Gee, how can those terribly clever Japanese Boffins do this, it is completely believable. What genius."

--A few years later I remember Harlan Ellison on the Tom Snyder Show, talking about Close Encounters and saying something like "Then a giant chandelier comes down and starts spitting out Pillsbury Dough Boys" What a hoot.

Moon Problems

Dear Regies:

--I enjoyed the movie some what, but it did have problems. Number one was gravity. Now I know 1/6 G is rather hard to film. But, can you think of anything more likely to show the absence of 1/6 G than using a jump rope. Secondly the ballistic trajectory from the far side, was not quite right, somehow. Thirdly the "Evil Corporation" motif showed a lack of imagination and a socialist bent.
