Re: Sony? What Baloney!
Typing on a Sony Vaio, the best laptop I've ever owned. Second best was my previous Vaio. But a bit jealous, because the wife liked my tool so much, that she bought herself a Vaio Fit 15, with the super high res screen, touch, and pressure sensitive digitizer. So now I drool over my her asset.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is, whatcha talking about Willis?
Apple's a fucking liar
"All our systems are 100% secure."

Re: gravy train
You obviously have zero idea what a class action law suit is. And if you think about how much your parents and taxpayers spent on your education, much bigger fuckup than $66 on powerups.
Re: But do all Macs run OSX?
"No - sucks for you."
Yes, it does. Big time. Give you a scenario.
Let's say I have xcode on screen one, photoshop on screen 2. Working in xcode. Now I need to do something in photoshop from a menu. So I have to mouse over to photoshop on screen 2, activate it, mouse back to screen one, select from the menu, mosue back to xcode.
And that sucks for usability. Maybe it works on a laptop, one screen, facebook browsing scenario. Not for work. But I do realize that most people only use their computers to update facebook profiles, so I guess they have 99% of the use case of the population covered.
Re: But do all Macs run OSX?
"With the menus at the top of the screen you always know where the menu bar is going to be."
Works great for low IQ users. Unfortunately, sucks for everyone else.
and let's not forget about you fandouches who said 10 inch was perfect and now dropping double the price of a nexus7 on ipad minis.
wtf is entry level iphone?
wtf is an entry level iphone? there's no entry to the kingdom without the latest and shiniest!
Re: Bay Trail Goodness
"So, why the hell are Microsoft sell peddling RT???"
Because they are not yet ready to admit what a huge ass mistake RT was.
The Note 8 has a full on pressure sensitive Wacom stylus/hardware. Works incredibly well with Autodesk's Sketchbook. It's not the crappy battery required capacitive stuff.
Same goes for my Note 2.
Re: It's nice to see they're updating iOS 6.x also
"Unlike the o/s used by Android devices, which apparently are usually updated by purchasing a new device."
Purchasing a new device, which you fanbois do anyway, like sheep, every year the new shiny comes out?
Also you obviously have no clue what you're talking about. Google can and does update things on older phones.
But keep the butthurt iPropaganda coming. You provide entertainment.
"the iPad Smart Cover was also excellent"
You obviously have never used one of those shitty magnetic iPad Smart Covers. Because if you did, you would've noticed that:
1. offers zero protection for your shiny, at least not much more than a film screen protector
2. they come off all the time, so if you happen not to be holding the case and your shiny at the same time, your shiny will fall to the floor unprotected (see 1.)
3. they don't even work well as a stand, and hold your shiny in a way that it becomes too top heavy and fall over
But, it's awesome for Apple. Because of all the above, lots of new shinies can be sold to replace the the broken ones.
why copy OSX
Why does this look like every widget is a copy os OSX? It's not like OSX is that good looking.
If I wanted OSX, I'b buy a mac. If I wanted Windows, I'd buy windows.
This is major FAIL and the gnome designers should be ashamed of themselves.
Re: Looks like
"people are leaving WhatsApp in droves"
Apparently, too little, too late. Since WhatsApp already has what they wanted and sold it to the Zuck for $45 a pop.
Re: A beelion users can't be wrong (can they?)
"Say, you have a girlfriend living abroad for example."
That is just an imaginary situation in your head. What you have is an ex-girlfriend living abroad, banging some Italian stallion, and instead of video call, where you might get a glimpse, she pretends to you in some scuzzy text messaging app.
Paris, she could tell you all about it.
Re: What a gimmick!
Dunno about that. Gimmick to me is things like Siri. You ask her stupid questions, like does she like boys or girls once you get your phone and you never talk to her again.
This curved feature actually seems nice and useful every day. I'd give it a shot if I didn't already have a cool phone.
What a BULLSHIT article.
Man, from the title I was thinking Google was forcing manufacturers to sign their lives away, or at least send them a 747 filled with virgin albino sex slaves.
But all they want is the google apps installed? The search bar on the homescreen? Fugg, that's almost like no restrictions at all.
Can't believe I got clickbaited into this bullshit.
Paris, even though she's not albino, and probably not a virgin either.
"I'll take my chances with the Apple Geniuses."
You must be a Genius like them Geniuses.
"Suggest you put it into a protective case?"
Sure, if you wanna look like a dork or retard. You just dropped $500 on the shiny, and you stick it into some butt ugly plastic case? I bet you have your sofas covered with plastic wrap, too.
Paris, because she prefers it without the plastic wrap.
Apple owns the government, the government owns Apple. So what the fuck did the fanbois expect?
$180 dirt cheap?
$180 is not dirt cheap. dirt cheap would be less than $100. $180 is more than i spent on my linux htpc, running xbmc at full res hd playing any video format under the sun.
paris not impressed.
"The PC is dead. All hail the Tablet?"
Man, I keep hitting F6 on my tablet but it still doesn't want to compile my C++ code. Gotta jump back on the PC I guess.
Re: Samsung owners!
So why do i see all you fanbois wrap your shiny into crappy plastic cases?
Re: Translation from MS speak
Yeah, those idiotic MS drvelopers. All they worry about stupid things like backwards compatibility. Making sure that you can still run your programs after a major OS update. Who would need to run a piece of software from 5 years ago?
And why do we care what a digger says?
Re: Dear Apple .......
" in the UK at least, the banks charge ~20p to process every single transaction, whether its £0.50 or £1000"
Yeah. When you move a couple bucks around.
Or you really don't think Apple gets a better rate?
Re: Dear Apple .......
"I think the developers who have netted $7bn aren't too unhappy with the model."
Haha. Yeah. You wish. In reality, this is how that $10bn got divided:
$3bn -> Apple
$5bn -> Facebook user acquisition
$2bn -> developers
Happiest? You bet. The Zuck.
Apple: We don't like this restriction on price manipulation.
NSA: We need a new backdoor to iDevices.
Apple+NSA in unison: Deal!
Re: The problem they've got...
"I have done loads of development and overhauled apps"
"I will often build an app and then road test it with friends and family"
Wooo wooo wooo buckaroo. Let's back up.
"I have done loads of development and overhauled apps"
No, you haven't.
Re: I don't get it
Dude! As mentioned above, RTFA! Paragraph 4:
"Conveniently, US comms watchdog the FCC has given a thumbs up to in-flight mobile broadband, and the European Aviation Safety Agency is relaxing its rules on the use of electronics before and during flights"
Re: I believe it
you have absolutely zero idea of what you are talking about. your lengthy post has not one true fact in it. you don't have to have an ms account, and you can install any application, use the desktop just like in windows7, except it all runs faster. stop spreading this idiotic fud.
Re: Time to edit HOSTS
"My wife will moan if FB goes back in HOSTS."
Sure, but it might also have its benefits. Like you might start seeing home cooked dinners. Or she might sit down with your kids to do homework. Heck, maybe even you'll get lucky again.
Paris, because she knows a thing or two about getting lucky.
This is just so freaking stupid, it's not even funny.
Comparing a manufacturer that has one high end phone (5s) to other manufacturers that have multiple (for example S4 and Note3).
Show us numbers that matter. Total sales per manufacturer, or at least combined sales of top end phones per manufacturer. Or how about combined sales of top end phones per operating system?
Oh wait, that would attract far less fanpuss clicks.
Re: Still $100 too much
"Probably a lot more once you get an ARM Linux variant on it."
Yeah, except name one that has even sort of semi decent touch screen support. Once you do that, please also throw in some applications that you can run on it, with using touch.
have some of your own medicine
Well first of all I have no idea what you are talking about here:
" the point of prolonging OS longer on a small device"
If what you are getting at is that you don't need anything more than iOS and ARM, that's fine, just stay where you are and keep crushing them candies.
But I keep my i7 desktop and laptop, with a real OS for photoshop, 3d, compiling a couple hundred thousand c++ lines, and other more-fun-than-crushing-candies things.
Cheap? With price range of $700-$1000? Or you are saying people will be selling used ones at a loss?
Re: All bogus numbers..Microsoft and Sony just lie!
I was going to say something, but then Paris noticed your downvote count.
Re: That and a prominent name or logo...
Like four finger tap, twist, slide down and hold? Gimme a break.
I stick with the menu and back buttons.
"one important factor behind their success: price"
Quality, features, and much better OS. I would not swap my S Note for an iPhone, even if the iPhone was free.
KISS and emacs in one sentence. Must be a joke. Just not a funny one.
who the fugg cares about repairability?
you dropped 500 on a shiny toy. that you don't need. if it breaks, you can drop another 500, which you would do in a couple months anyway.
stop this idiocy about repairability. nobody gives a fugg.
If you camp out to buy anything other than bread, you are a freakin LOSER.
Re: more or less the same size and resolution as any competing 7-8" tablet.
> I would also consider an iPad with a 3000mAH battery which lasts 10 hours doing video playback better than a Windows tablet with a 6000mAH battery which lasts 2 hours doing video playback.
Except if you are a doer, not a brain dead follower. Like for example if you want to paint with a stylus, with pressure sensitivity. Or write some code. Whatever. You prolly have no idea what I'm talking about.
"widely viewed as singling out Apple"
Yeah, if you act like a dick, you'll be singled out. Good on the EU.
Unfortunately this will never happen in the US, as Apple has half the politicians in the pocket.
Re: Slow news day eh?
> Citation please.
> when everyone knows they all aspire to own an iPhone, iPad and Mac Book.
maybe yahoo just finally realized what utter crap yahoo groups were, and trying to kill it, as a gesture to society. and we say thanks!
So how much does it cost? The price is not even listed on their website. Contact their sales rep? Fuck that.
home tape solution
Is there an affordable solution for backing up home computers on tape? I'm currently using blue ray discs, but it would be nice to have a tape that holds 0.5-1tb.
Re: Blah blah blah -@AC 14:24
@Steve Todd 14:41 said: you missed the bit where Apple said that fingerprint data would only ever be stored inside of the A7 chip and be accessed by their security API
And you obviously missed Obama overruling the ban of iPhone sales handed to Apple by the courts, weeks before Apple introduced a fingerprint scanner into iDevices? Coincidence?
