Panasonic outs dual-core Euro-centric Android phone

LarsG

MY

Panasonic microwave lasted 11 years before it died.

Can we expect the same build quality here?

SmarTone lets users cancel all-you-can-eat contracts

LarsG

IF...

They change your mobile contract from all you can eat to a limited fair use service here in the UK then you should have the right to keep the phone and cancel the contract.

I cannot understand why these thing do not come under unfair contract terms when unilateral decisions are made without negotiation.

No other industry allows it.

Dick estate gets stiffed

LarsG

THE PRODUCERS AND THE STUDIOS..

scream out over copyright every chance they get,

Yet now we see them sneaking and conniving over how to get round copyright so THEY don't have to pay.

Apple antagonist Proview unveils its own iPad

LarsG

IF...

You look at it from the front it has four corners!

But I just can't see it as a pad, and as to resting it on your knee?

Still, it is all about the NAME, not the device.

Hey Ho!

FTC tears into Apple, Google over kids' privacy - or lack of

LarsG

I STOPPED....

I Stopped downloading apps for the simple reason that the developers are asking for too much information.

Why do they need to know where I am, why do they need access to sms, why do they need to....... Contacts list.

TO COLLECT DATA AND SELL IT ON FOR ADVERTISING

IF EVERYONE stopped downloading apps they would soon change things. I would love to have examples of the information they take off you because, believe me you wouldn't be downloading half what you do now.

Rant over.

LarsG

EASY TO BLAME THE PARENTS...

if you have no children of your own or you are sitting with a smug self satisfied middle class smile on your face.

That smile won't last because your children will be running rings round you and your tech ability.

However, if the permissions really made it clear and gave an example of WHAT they collected about you then MAYBE we could make a better informed decision.

Internet simulcasts don’t need extra royalties

LarsG

DOES THIS MEAN...

That when you purchase a song or an album, you have the rights to all mediums you play the songs through.

Apple files patent for simplified iPhone media sharing

LarsG

APPLE RE RE RE RE RE RE RE RE RE RE RE RE RE RE...

will suck the dried blood out of a rotting corpse if they think there has been a patent infringement, they'd even do it hands free while receiving a message.

I've said it before and will say it again.

Microsoft licensing hike sparks UK piracy, bankruptcy fears

LarsG

DEAR MICROSOFT...

Please explain why there is not a standard licence price ACROSS THE WORLD?

With todays computers it would be easy enough to build in Exchange rate mechanisms.

So why do you charge us so much more in the UK?

SmarTone in the dock again after tariff U-turn

LarsG

THE BAIT..

The bait used to lure new customers, "unlimited data".

A few months later they cap it with 'fair use' or reduce or limit the amount you can have, because hidden in the small print, it says they can.

Then we all look shocked and surprised!

Social networks can't be forced to filter content, rules top EU court

The European Court had actually come up with a common sense decision!!!!!

Bung a tenner to a mate's mobile number with new Barclays app

LarsG

COULD BE GOOD FOR...

small businesses, should be cheaper than lugging a card machine from location to location,

BUT

I'm sure the banks will think up all sorts of charges for the privilege to use it. I bet call cost connections to your account will cost you and they'll charge for you to receive it as well.

A future cash cow for the banks.

Satnav blunders blamed for £200m damages

LarsG

My satnav

Took me from Winsford to Northwich via a road that narrowed to a sunken lane wide enough for a small car to a gated railway crossing that had not been opened in twenty years.

Actually, I didn't get as far as the gate, a coach had got stuck and they were towing it out.

Tom Tom

New Mac OS X: Mountain Lion roars at unauthorised apps

LarsG

THERE APPEARS TO BE.......

a lot of concern amongst the internet security companies that there will come a time when Apples walled garden will be breached.

The consensus is that it will be breached, the danger will be that many devises have no AntiVirus etc installed because users believe what they use is totally secure.

The breach when it comes could ne catastrophic for many users.

Proview fears fanbois will derail iPad export ban bid

LarsG

SO...

They'll just make more fake 'ipids' and flog them as the real thing, made alongside the real thing in the backroom of the foxconn factory that does not exist.

Problem solved.

Apparently the factory has a swimming pool.

500 Brit techies at risk over NHS IT fiasco

LarsG

BRIT TECHIES?

WHEN they had started to outsource to India?

iPads seized from shelves by Chinese officials

LarsG

FINALLY FROM ME...

On this subject...

Does Apple know that China have a vast nuclear arsenal?

LarsG

I'VE just realised....

I'm being nice..... To Apple.

LarsG

APPARENTLY

BMW sued over a Chinese company making Fake X5's and lost (top gear if it can be believed) so the rule of law is not quite what it seems in China.

But of course if you speak out...... You get locked up..... For a long time.

It is unlikely to go Apples way.

LarsG

Or maybe

It's just a way to get an iPad without paying.

Is that cynical?

LarsG

YET

The fakes are still on sale!

The rule of law is not applicable here, I'm surprised Apple haven't got that yet.

NSW government accused of dodgy software cover-up

LarsG

NOT JUST...

You in NSW, we are past masters of this crap here in the UK.

Any Gov IT project here over runs, costs billions more than anticipated and fails to work correctly.

The project is usually decided by taking the cheapest quote and then overseen by politians who have no idea, advised by by experts (additional cost) who don't know one end of a USB lead from another and paid for by you who has to fund the short fall.

In many cases, the project fails in delivery, the company involved in the project sacked, then paid out billions in compensation for their failure!

Why are we no longer surprised.

TDK ST-700 High Fidelity headphones

LarsG

it seems

Discrete is no longer applicable.

The bigger and more garish the headphones you wear on your commute to work the better.

But that's fine, it makes you easier to rob.

Met thumbed through Oyster card data up to 22,000 times in 4 years

LarsG

a simple solution to this problem...

Anyone who has been watched looked at investigated checked on THEN

Found innocent, wrong person etc should then be informed that checks have been made on them.

When 6 million people in the UK find this out there will be an uproar.

Then these agencies will be a little more circumspect about trawling your details.

Ten... Valentine's Day gifts for her

LarsG

OH BUT IF YOU ARE WEAK...

And have to buy something then don't make it a too.complicated gadget like a smart phone. It just causes confusion for them.

Space: 1999 returning to TV?

LarsG

BLAKES 7!!!!!

Having revisited it I can say that when I first watched it many moons ago my standards were poor and expectations were low enough to think it was cool.

Now.....

Having matured with high standards and great expectations I really does look c**p.

I blame Star Wars as the catalyst to my expectations.

By the way, what did happen to Blake in the end? Was he killed by the poorly made scenery on the film set?

New patent will give iPhone screen interactive 3D
