3D TV fails to excite, gesture UIs to flop: analyst

Thumb Down

Re: Of course

Not everyone can see in 3D, the glasses are a pain and having to sit directly in front of the screen to benefit won't work in my house. My wife has prime position from her perch on the sofa, I have to suffer a 50 degree offset from where I sit.

I just want to slump down and watch a bit of telly, not hunt round for a pair of plastic specs an have them digging in my ears for a few moments of 'ooh look at that' and then realise the content of the program is crap.

In the cinema, yes, but in my house definately not.

Re: you'd need a warrant to get my computer

Time for encryption of every device I own, not because I have something to hide but because my business is my own. Why should the police have access to confidential emails, family pictures, confidential telephone numbers. If I have had to sign a document stating I will not divulge this information why should they have access it it on a whim of fancy.

Totally open to abuse of office with no safe guards, and pray tell why they would want to store pictures of my children for ever?

This poorly thought out legislation will be a gold mine for lawyers. Is that the intention? Jobs for the politicians friends and family. I think it is though I may be cynical

Re: Perfect timing..

I understand your confusion. My advice, make sure whatever phone to buy fits in your pocket, never buy a newly released handset as they all have teething problems, wait a month or so for reviews that comment more on usage rather than a 5 min fumble, consider, if it is an android phone does it come with the most upto date OS or is the manufacturer giving you a 'promise' of an update in the future. Note that when my HTC Sensation (unbranded) was updated to ICS it became a pig. If you have a branded handset the update will take much longer, if ever, and you may find it does not suit the phone.

Consider, as I do, whether you want to be stuck with a phone on a two year contract which is average, and will be well out do date in six months and unlikely to have the OS up graded after a year, should you buy an unbranded phone and then go for a sim only deal. Note android phones get cheaper after a month or so of release, while Apple do not. If you keep your phone in top condition unbranded ones sell better.

Lots to think about, good luck because you'll need it.

On the plus side there is the BIG battery, and it can withstand a shower.

Um, that's it, looks ugly, uninspired and the screen is nothing to boast about, did Motorola know Samsung were bringing out the S3 and HTC new effort?

They seem to like to play catch up don't they.

LarsG

I have

Retired my HTC sensation and await my new iPhone.

Why?

The ICS update has crippled the phone, it is buggy, slow, has spelling mistakes in the menu, battery life has dropped and writing messaging and emails takes on a life of its own.

The iPhone will work, it will sync with my iPad, contacts are safely stored in the cloud and it backs it self up input free.

It works out of the box and my service provider is supplying a sim free of charge. For once it will be blissful to know that using it will be effortless.
