New laws to shackle and fine the Press? We've got PLENTY already

LarsG
Stop

Ok so put in laws that curb press freedom

We'd never had heard about the MPs expenses scandal, they would have kept a lid on that little lot.

Or Hugh Grant with the postitute.

Or all the other so called Celebrities with all their little sordid secrets that they want to keep away from their 'fans'.

It seems to me that those with an interest in bringing in press restrictions are those that have wanted to cover up their sordid little lives for their own pecunary purposes.

There should only be one law, that law is THE TRUTH. If the press gets it wrong then a large fine, but do we want to be like countries that curb press freedom, Egypt, Syria, Kuwait, Russia, Burma, China, all African countries, Argentina, Mexico, Most other Arab Islamic countries?

Do you want to be like them for the sake of being able to cover up celebrity and politician sordid secrets?

Amazon makes BEELLIONS from British customers, pays pennies in tax

LarsG
Alert

Ok

So Amazon makes Billions, that's business.

So Amazon pays little tax, there is nothing illegal here.

So the Government tries to claim it is unethical to do this, yet MP's have had their fingers in the till for years but claim 'we Woz just following the rules'.

MP's pretend to sort out expenses but then buy houses and then rent them out to each other so that they can claim housing expenses. Effectively one MP pays another MP rent using tax payers money.

Joe Public is in the middle of a recession and looks for bargains because he can't fund his expenses from the tax payer. If Joe Public find a cheap bargain because of Amazon so what.

MP's and Government need to look in the mirror.

Re: i wonder...

Yes it looks like the Tories are masters of deviant behaviours, stemming from their Public Schools no doubt.

However Labour are catching up not so much with deviant behaviours but fraudulent, stemming from the 'loophole' of being able to buy a house on expenses and then renting it out to a fellow MP who them claims housing expenses for renting, while at the same time renting his house out to the first MP for the same purpose.

If they had used their brains like this while in power the UK would be the richest country in the world.

So at the next election we have a choice between deviants and the devious.

There have been a number of complaints recently where a school introduced fingerprint readers for the diner queue. Rather than using money or a card to pay for you meal, you use a fingerprint.

Of course the machine 'does not' record finger prints, though it must contain a database of them many parents are concerned about data protection issues. The system was introduced without a consultation. It would be quite easy for the police or local authority to get access to it simply by requesting it through a court order.

The danger is that like the DNA data base many innocent young people can find themselves on the system simply because the police have been having a trawl.

But hey if you have nothing to hide? As they say.
