Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 -my simplification
Basically if you want to do business in USA your US operations can be prosecuted for doing corrupt things elsewhere. If don't like that then don't do business in US.
Sooner this intellectual ponzi scheme is shut down the better - the basic principle of operation is to present a poorly written and factually inaccurate stub of content to the wider world, and then expecting the wider world to improve it. They're basically trolling the rest of the world for free content.
Add to that an organisation (a registered charity) that couldn't care less if its workers dropped dead at the terminal or starved to death, and add an organisational structure which benefits bullies, and other parasites as has been pointed out countless times before.
Take a look at the recent wikipedia banner add - notice how its contributors appear to need new clothes and a good meal.. That's wikipedia's reality - unpaid, unwanted, uncared for contributors being exploited.
Screw it to hell.
^^this - bring back the MO drive
That's right the write method is exactly the same as the old magneto-optical drive. I suppose the difference is that (excluding that the drives are non-removable) the read method - which isn't mentioned - MO disks used the "Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect" which is an optical read - I wonder if they might try this too ...
Bravo les Belges !
Could be a steady seller
There's a lot that makes sense about the ASUS transformer - it's a netbook and a tablet. I'd like to know how the Tegra processor compares with a netbook standard atom/intel graphics cpu/gpu on performance. (not per watt - just pure processing power)
Pricing is good too.
Call me old fashioned but I'd like to see windows version too. Would that bump the price.
Not at the prices they're charging!
I was saying that a cheaper "ultrabook" might be a good idea. ie a DVD driveless laptop. I can't see much of a market for mac air clones - competing on price/quality seems to be the way forward to me, rather than trying to mimic what makes mac airs succesfull.
Not sure but it looks like that post got deleted for racism. wtf?
Your comment is pretty judgemental and arrogant in my opinion, and insulting to me too.
Trying to ignore this guy
The GNU license is a pain - quote "To protect your rights, we need to prevent others from denying you these rights or asking you to surrender the rights. Therefore, you have certain responsibilities if you distribute copies of the software, or if you modify it: responsibilities to respect the freedom of others." etc etc blah blah
Stop lecturing me like a 13 year old virgin having a difficult puberty - grow up -and leave you shit at home.
Can I have a GPL without the preamble. No. .. because ''.. changing it is not allowed..." first sentence - welcome to "'free' as in 'free speech'" as defined by one person.
Probably needs a shrink to have a look at the ego too.
Let someone else run the country
Governments appears increasingly incapable of making sound decisions about the running of the state. Although the idea is at odds with my politics the idea of letting large corporations run the country (completely) seems increasingly attractive.
Put IBM in charge, and completely get rid of every aspect of the current state, even the idea of it. Is this treasonous?
UK would get screwed if it tried protectionism..
You need some 'leverage' to get away with protectionism like that - trade barriers are trade barriers no matter what the reason given - it's a two way process - Australians are fortunate to currently be be major exporters of coal and iron ore (and probaly other things ? food?) - This wouldn't wash in the UK which doesn't really have a globally vital product like that - I doubt doubling of the price of bananas would be politically popular either.
The other story here is bulk freight - stuff like steel works aren't built next to the coal mines anymore - they just need a deep water port - this has been true since the 1960s. maybe before.
Good article. Thanks.
