What's worse is at the start coalition said wireless was the future and a better option than fibre, Just goes to show exactly how little they know about how it all works. Wireless base stations what are they plugged into, yeah that's right, cable/fibre, Coalition seems to think wireless just works on magic and faeries. NBN would actually make wireless better by having more bandwidth to go around.

Lost a vote, A lot of people including myself have had 100mb/s connections for the past few years here and they are talking about NBN alternative of 25mb/s, What century are you living in? The whole point of NBN isn't just to provide CURRENT needs but allows FUTURE proofing for all the upcoming HD content in the future as well as enabling business's to utilise teleconferencing and other high bandwidth features, 25mb/s won't cut it for 4k TV's when that comes out but fibre will easily get to 1gb/s speeds which will be what the next generation will need and want.
Coalition has their heads up their asses and is just after a cheaper quick fix, All that will happen is their version will end up costing the same or more later on when they have to go back and upgrade, Better off to spend the money now and do it properly, I don't regard the huge cost as a waste when it is part of a countries infrastructure, Do it right the first time! Rather have my tax dollars being used for this so that everyone will get the option to use it rather than see it pissed against the wall with stupid baby bonuses or first home buyers grants that only a few will benefit from.

While some of you people are relying on cloud or other online services to purchase/view content and get ripped off on, I shall continue to import my cheap(as in half price cheap) and "ORIGINAL" Boxed pc/ps3 games from overseas!
I'll stick to my optical media for a while yet thank you very much. I buy quite a lot of stuff off Steam when they have sales, But other than that their prices just don't compete with a boxed game from online retailer somewhere on the other side of the globe!
Also I doubt the next gen consoles will be cloud only, Would be the biggest mistake in tech history at this point in time.

It has got to the point here in Australia that about the only things I buy here now are food and petrol!
Everything else can be bought online for cheaper sometimes 50% off and a lot of it even has free postage to go with it, People are fed up with the bullshit and it's not just us tech heads that have been doing this for a decade or more but now pretty much every citizen has caught on to online shopping.
And next they want to change tax threshold for low value online goods, Well fuck you too all that will happen is you will see people joining groups and bulk buying imports instead of individual purchases, It's already starting to happen.
My point is stop being greedy bastards and give us a fair price then we will start buying shit here again.
tech/software industry is the worst, A top end graphics card a while back for example(690GTX) was $999 in US but here it is $1400 and our dollar is higher, What's that about 40% mark up, Don't even get me started on software that is even worse especially when you are talking about purchasing then downloading game online that has no reason for extra costs yet we are charged a crap load more.

Virtual Reality
I am a hardcore pc gamer but have a PS3 in the lounge as well, Personally I couldn't care what platform wins out I just want TOTAL IMMERSION in my games, It is about friggin' time they had another go at Virtual Reality, Wether it be for pc or next gen console. Back in the 90's it was just a novelty and a bit of fun to try out at the arcades. The hardware and graphics cards required to run VR decently were just not there but now almost 20 years later it is time to try again in my opinion. There are a few projects in developement at present but I would like to see it go mainstream on pc/console within the next few years. I and many out there have insanely powerful pc's just itching to be used but instead all we get are some crap console ports and the odd game that uses more than 2 cpu cores. Latest generation cards from both AMD and Nvidia are overkill for the software, What we need is a new type os software/hardware to utilise the power of these cards, Bring back VR!

Don't know about that, It has won me over from iphone. I couldn't care about the back of phone which I am not looking at and no one else can see either as my hand is covering it when I use phone or it's on table, What I care about is the front in all it's glory. Not on some small shitty sized screen such as iphone 5 but the splendour of the mighty Galaxy Note II. Not concerned at all about scratches as the back is easily replaced, Also if I get sick of one colour I can change it not that I care but the option is there, More choice wins me over. For most people I think a smart phone is a SMART PHONE only minority would think of it as fashion, Unless you are referring to 16 year old pimply kids who want to look "cool" with the latest toy. You see some teenagers and even adults in tracksuits and hoodies with the latest and greatest phone, You think to yourself geez mate if I were you I wouldn't be worrying about what the phone looks like,That's the least of your worries people are looking at you not the phone. :)
As for iphones I no longer see them as a fashionable thing to have as EVERY one and their dog has one, Want fashion get something different.

Already happening at my work place. They come straight out of Uni and end up same place I am working as there isn't any other jobs. But once here they seem to think they are better because they have a bit of paper, I make sure I put them back in their place quick smart. Not only are they lazy and weak but can't even do basic problem solving on the job. People must realise we can't all be doctors otherwise everything we have in society will crumble. Uni is just a sham to take people's money and keep it looking like governments are doing something. What is the bet there will probably be uni degrees for cleaning sooner or later! Laugh all you like now but there are already uni courses for topics that clearly don't need it.

I'll still be buying one when I can pick up a 52 incher for under $5000, Also an 8k res tv as well and whatever else comes out as long as the price is right. At the moment though they are the price of a new car. I think I read not that long ago somehwere about the Sony 4k Bravia being in the high 20's, As in AU$20k just a tad out of reach for most households. heh
I don't mind paying 1k premium more than mr joe average out there but 20k more is a kick in the pants for me.

Yes I am one of those "losers", Drive around in hotted up car, Splurge on everything luxury and still save more money than most even though I am on low income, A few more years at home and I will buy a house outright, While all those who moved out in late teens or twenties will be still working for next 30+ years to try pay it off and giving banks extra money on interest.
I reckon it was real estate agents or builders who must have come up with the "loser" notion, to keep people buying houses and economy moving.

Try Heaven benchmark 3.0 on ultra/extreme settings in 3d on a large screen or multiple screens, You will see how much faster some of us want/neeeeeeeeed to go! You won't even get to 60fps let alone 120fps,Hell some of you might not even reach the needed 30fps for smooth play. lol

NBN is awesome!
Maybe it is a slow uptake because a lot of us are already on 100mbit speeds from Telstra for the past 2 years when they secretly had a package on offer but it wasn't really advertised much!
When NBN raises those speeds to 200,500mbit or 1gbit speeds you can bet your arse I will be signing up if Telstra doesn't have anything to offer me at that time. As HD content and even 4k resolution content starts appearing we will need every bit of extra speed we can get,Fibre is the way to go!
NBN will be one of the best investments Oz has ever done not just for future business transactions but for the general masses entertainment purposes!
