Re: Google should thank Facebook
Have you actually tried g+? The app is a million times better than the Facebook one, and if you add yourself to the right circles the conversation and content is too.
Rather than being lazy and assuming what some writer in the press that was stupid enough to buy Facebook shares tells you about Facebook is true, actually TRY it..
Microsoft REALLY desperate now
Clearly it's all gone do badly wrong they have had to scrape the barrel and resort to this.
Anyone buying a Windows Phone as a result of this campaign is a fucking moron.
Re: Opposing views
This time however, none of your flaws have any basis in the real world.
The pricing is some of the best around.
The scan-and-match services works just fine, within limits of availability.
The amount of FREE storage of owned music is unmatched by anyone else
It can't fairly be compared to Spotify (which costs a monthly subscription), yet it easily holds it's own.
The choice of buy music is not quite iTunes, but it's not far off, and considering it's less than a week old, impressive.
It also stinks of being intentionally gimped review by the reviewer deciding to use a mobile phone to upload vast quantities of music.
THAT is the problem. All the negatives have been artificially created for the purpose of the "review". This should have been a glowing review of an outstanding and cost effective/free service, yet it was given to an iTard to review, and they clearly engineered the outcome to suit.
Looks like Microsoft found a way to get ride of those unwanted Windows Phones.
How many staff do Microsoft have?
How many have they "sold"?
Re: Undecided
Comes pre-loaded with Google Music App, which is superb.,...
Accessing Google services on an iDevice is always going to be an inferior offering,.,,
Re: Good idea, poorly executed
"The Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) is an audio codec developed by Apple and supported on iPhone, iPad, most iPods, Mac and iTunes"
No nobody outside of Apple cares....
Re: Good idea, poorly executed
LOL, I will give you a clue as to where the problem is...
"ripped in a codec that Google Play Music doesn't support. I used Apple Lossless "
Note the APPLE bit. You ripped all your music into a Apple proprietary format, and expect someone that's not Apple to care? I have recently come to the conclusion Apple owners are too stupid to understand the word "proprietary", and what the resulting problems are...
You could of course ripped it into FLAC, and everything would have been fine. All Android devices like FLAC lossless, as does the music uploader...
Also interesting
that this article fails to mention how much better the encoded music is, and how cheaper it is.
79p for a track, £7.99 for an album. Every instance I tried was considerably more expensive on iTunes and Amazon.
#Fail for fanboy written articles...
Wrong...
"Although Google is supposed to offer a scan-and-match service, it actually isn't. Scan and match,"
I had a US Google Music account for about 8 months, and it's fantastic. However it took over a month of overnight (unmetered) to upload my stuff (8000 tracks) over my slow(ish) ADSL with 512k upload.
Uploaded the same collection to my missus Google account over 3 nights.
What's happening, if it can find a match, it will, otherwise you have to upload it. Not sure what Andrew Orlowski expects to happen, if Google don't have your track in their catalog. Magic it out of thin air or something???
#FAIL
Google haters are gonna hate it seems....
Meh, already out on Android...

I would prefer any of these over the iPad Mini
Including the Playbook (seriously...)

In the other corner is poor old HTC
that lost the plot and tried to make Windows Phone devices, even though they had a track record of dismal failure time and time again.

Not seen the Nexus 10 then I assume... Loser...
Baahhhaaa
"Microsoft has plenty of experience playing Google's online game, what with Bing and Hotmail and its other online services, coupled with associated online advertising. "
Really? Did you just put Microsoft's services onpar with Google and Gmail, seriously????

Wow, iTune/iPhone
Is this typical of what the hipsers buy?
As to me, it sounds like the chavs have moved in, and the iPhone is now the choice of Burberry clad chavsters.

Apple really are slimy scumbags
I used to just despise their lack of business ethics, but now I despite anyone that has an dealings with them whatsoever.
its not
It only needs to add GPS to instantly make it better specs than the 3x the price ipad mini....
I know apple maps is really poor, but leaving out GPS and having a rubbish bluetooth stack that can't even share files is ultimate cheap skating on apples part...
its not
But they don't have a product to promote oc the back of this "news" for ios yet
barometer broken
"Certainly, El Reg’s barometer of technology usage, the London Underground, suggests not. "
Problem is apple love to pose with their fashion accessories, nexus owners just use them...

10000x 14yr old Chinese illegals running round in hamster cages if Apples current track record is anything to go by...
Re: Anonymous Cowards & Android Fanbois
Wasn't the lumia 920 the one with the crap camera that was so bad they had to fake all the pictures and videos to make it appear decent?
Sounds like you are willing to believe any old crap. All I know is the stream of endless windows phone broken promises and problems.
£450 for the one one that only runs applets
Might want to wait for dome apps first, or see if the platform just disappears into obscurity like the last Microsoft slate effort.
£510 for 32gb with keyboard
Ouch..
It's not even the version that runs windows apps.
This is gonna flop bigger than windows phone
£450 for the one one that only runs applets
No thanks....
£450 for the one one that only runs applets
Not proper windows of course. This is the Windows rt version that only runs simple applets.
Yes Microsoft does the EXACT same thing and gets a free pass.
http://marketingland.com/microsoft-privacy-change-google-attacked-23598
I suppose that's the screwed up world we live in, where you can release significant privacy changes at a odd time of day on an obscure blog, and get away with it, but if you are upfront and honest, the media drag you over the hot coals...
#EPICMEDIAFAIL
scaremongering
"Chocolate Factory already scans apps in the Google Play store for malicious behavior using a system known as Bouncer, but that hasn't prevented a number of high-profile incidents in which scammers have used rogue apps to swindle Android users out of cash and device data."
All those" high profile incidents " are not originating from the Google play store, they are from other sources from users too stupid to understand the clearly worded malware warning when enabling unknown sources.
Re: Nokia fanboys
LOL, deluded much?
Had Nokia gone with Android, they almost certainly would be where Samsung is today.
Re: iOS 6 Maps - Cloud Based Satellite Imagery
Deluded much?
Still confused why people
want to send all their communications thru a proprietary server setup, rather than the open and more reliable Internet..
Peados, terrorists or retards, I would guess.
Samaritans will be busy tonight..
one they discover that the iPhone5 is not all it's cracked up to be, and rather shit and overpriced compared to competing high end Android handsets..
Lets hope they can actually find the local Samaritan's with the shitty mapping solution provided.
Death of HTC
It's not a coincidence that their shareprice drop of 50% occured the same time they took their eye of Android and wasted their engineering resources on the failed Windows Phone...
Can they afford for it to happen again this time? Me think not. Shame, I really liked HTC Android phones, when they weren't watering down their effort.
Consumers have already voted with their wallets on Windows Phone, and clearly HTC don't get it. It's no concidence these phones look just like Nokia Lumias....
Re: Top loader and no price cut?
But the Xbox360 is a pile of crap that chock full of last gen PS2 storage tech, and the low price point is propped up by having to pay for online play 5yrs x £40 = £200 Come on wake up.....
How are those low def movies, and monthly recurring payments working out???
Don't forget
that the public transport is missing from iOS6 maps, as is Streetview, and taiored turn-by-turn for car, bus, bicycle, walking, also don't forget the inside mapping of airports, shopping malls etc.
However this is a fix to get full functionality back (better than before, with full Google powered turn-by-turn and vector maps, and Zagat ratings and full POI and all the above missing features).
You can get the fix here:

Re: I waited almost 9 months
It's not a whole extra step, you have been fooled by clever marketing.
Apple can announce and not have to deliver for 6 months, yet when Android users have to wait 6 months, that's a different matter apparently...
Someone want to play this to them?

Re: It's A solution
Not really that strange considering nobody bought windows phone
ico are a pain in the arse
Websites are now much more annoying than they were before this crap came in. What the fuck were they thinking?
I want a global opt in for cookies to say I don't give a crao about them, but I do get annoyed by stupid cookie bars I have to chase around the screen like here on el-reg when using a mobile browser.
Re: @ LDS
Of course, nothing that would ever compete with Amazon's buisness model would ever appear. No no EPUB readers, nothing that would allow content or formats that Amazon don't sell for.
"No other rival can offer such distinctive differentiators"
BZZTTT Wrong...

Funny....
"Every Kindle Fire comes deeply integrated into Amazon's retail experience, which is why I wasn't tempted by the release of Google's Nexus 7"
Funny, but that's the reason WHY I bought a Nexus7 and would never buy anything Kindle.
I like to choose where I shop. Something that forces me to shop in a single place is BAD. That's why Apple and Amazon never get any business from me.
Shop with a mac? Too stupid to shop around.
That's basically how many algorythms work. If you are shopping with an Apple product, then you will be paying more for the same item as PC owners, as clearly you are a total dipshit.
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57460254-93/mac-users-pay-more-than-pc-users-says-orbitz/
Not only did they pay over the odds for the shiny status symbol itself, they pay over the odds for everything else as a result.
I call it the idiot tax.
