Google's Schmidt strikes Carrier IQ off Xmas card list

“When ideas are blocked, information deleted, conversations stifled and people constrained in their choices, the internet is diminished for all of us,” Clinton said, according to the New York Times.

That's a pretty funny statement considering she's part of the same government which is bringing in the The Stop Online Piracy Act and who routinely shutdown websites that don't agree with their policies or views.

Blighty's bumpkins bemoan bold broadband bluster

SJRulez

Government cant promise anything

"The government meanwhile continues to defend its stance on delivering the best broadband network in Europe by 2015."

Yep I think they lost the ability to make such promises when they sold off BT in the first place, they thought they could make some fast cash, lost out in the long term and still have to stump up £500M+ cash to get BT and the other providers moving.

Capita signs £560m deal with BBC

Not a good deal at all

BBC CFO Zarin Patel claimed the deal "represents great value" for the licence-fee paying public.

No its not, it still a rubbish deal.... I don't want to pay for the BBC at all since I don't watch their channels.

GiffGaff blames O2 gaffe for mobile outage

SJRulez

Giff gaff for over a year and not had any problems........... Enough said.

But whilst were on the subject, we lost most of our orange network last week at work taking out 400 staff phones which took a few days to fix, we had blackberry issues which took nearly a week. Anyone who thinks the can have 100% service or things fixed instantly wants to take a step back and actually look at what they are asking for.

'but seriously, what is wrong with using your mobile on a toilet'

Its a bit difficult not to interrupt you having sex when your watching the porn on your phone alone. lol

Activists tell gov to shove its net censorship plans

SJRulez

Its good for some but not for us

It amazes me how the government are currently trying to cut down, block, monitor and invade the same technologies that a few months ago they were praising for helping in the Egypt and Libyan uprising.

They were also quick to attack any governments found to be filtering and denying their populations access to such mediums as facebook and twitter yet now they are guilty of doing the very same and for the very same reasons.

Anonymous shuts down hidden child abuse hub

take-downs of illegal websites and sharing networks should be done by the authorities, not internet vigilantes

lets face it the police and authorities are so inept at taking down sites, by the time they have been through all the legal wranglings the site operators are on to them and move house!

Royal Navy halts Highlands GPS jamming

SJRulez

Any excuse for some people to moan, what did they do before they had GPS????? Maps by any chance.

Innovatio targets Wi-Fi users with patent suits

SJRulez
WTF?

The Patent war gets even more ridiculous, they should prevent people from being able to obtain patents just so they can take me people to court.

Spotify adds 'temporary' private listening mode after Facebook backlash

SJRulez

Why do companies insist on make the changes then telling us to opt out, it should always be a case of opt in.

The US Preach

'According to The New York Times, United States officials have issued a stern warning over the attacks over Japan's ability to handle delicate information.'

Americans track record is no better but as usual they can still preach to others.

Schoolkids learn coding at GCSE level in curriculum trial

Finally

Finally they are going to teach kids how it works rather than how to work it. Maybe there is some hope for software development in the uk rather than india.

BT trying for fibre 'monopoly', claims TalkTalk chief

SJRulez

Been talk talk customer for 4years, never had a need to ring them at all. Only ever had one fault which was due to some stupid BT engineer disconnecting my line at the exchange.

BT really annoy me though with these statements

"We've also volunteered to provide additional forms of wholesale access via our ducts and poles." they arent BT's ducts and poles, BT inherited them from the tax payer and though their lack of investment we now have one of the worst Broandband networks in the world.

Patent wars: Apple attacks Samsung in Japan

SJRulez
WTF?

Apple losing ground

Very much seems to be a case or Apple are losing the war, their share is dropping and they have no ideas on how to get it back so its becoming a war of attrition..... prevent the opposition from selling while trying to sell your own product and see who lasts longest.

Will the looters 'loose' their benefits?

SJRulez

How stupid are the government

Take their benefits...... Big assumption that everyone rioting is on benefits, secondly don't you think that if we do take the only bit of money they get that they are just going to go out and commit even more crime.

As for this:

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg yesterday suggested local councils should have the right to evict convicted rioters from council accommodation. The rioters would then have to declare themselves homeless to the local council which would then be obliged to re-house them.

What a brilliant way to waste even more money, throw them out just to rehouse!! Stupid amounts of administration which costs, moving people around more costs to end up in exactly the same situation they were in!
