Anyone voting for Die Another Day?
Didn't think so
I got to the end of paragraph 3...
and I got bored and confused.
Think I'll stick with what I've got.
"Wanna guess which one?"
Microsoft? Surprised they didn't jump in to say that they've already sold MILLIONS of surfaces and the company are doing better than they expected, even before the release date! Because we are so not worried about the success of Windows 8.
"Microsoft - which owns Xbox -...."
Really? Wow, did NOT know that. It all makes sense now.
I can't see this happening...
and if it does, I can't see it working all that well.
In my living room, I have all sorts of shit on or against the wall - pictures, sofas, piano, cd racks, bookcases, windows, the staircase - from my experience with projectors, projecting onto an irregular surface doesn't produce the best results. Unless I'm missing something here?
He's gonna take you back to the past....
I strongly suggest you watch the AVGN review of this (that is, the NES version)...
Its a good game....
I picked up an N64 from a boot sale, plus Goldeneye and it really took me back to my school days.
but on my 42" TV, together with being used to playing such games as CoD, man I stated getting a headache after 10 minutes and my eyes were straining!
Still, it was worth it. 4 player split screen certainly kept me and y school friends up till gone 2am!
Calling something "Modern"...
Certainly worked for Activision.
Re: Most boxes connected to a TV are of a similar shape...
Am I reading this wrong, or are you saying that a PS3 is the same size as an Ouya? This thing is tiny.
I own Shogun 2, Dear Esther and Sins of a Solar Empire and they are all excellent games.
His comic on "When Web Design Goes Straight to Hell" was so funny...and true. Also, his analysis on why he thinks Printers were sent from hell is great.
Are you sure that picture is not the Ouya team spelling out a message to Sony and Microsoft with the money they've raised on Kickstarter?
What I like about the Ouya...
Its not Microsoft or Sony, thats a good start.
Second, sounds like you'll be able to run up another OS if you like, making emulators possible.
Third, the price. And for the price, you don't get a bad box, plus its upgradable.
Fourth, it's like taking a step back to when console gaming was what it was in the NES / SNES / Mega Drive / PS1 / PS2 days. I've never understood mobile gaming, I've got better things to do when I'm away from my TV, like work, socialising and using my mobile phone to be a....mobile phone.
And for those games that need higher specs? I'll be using Steam.
It'll be interesting to see how the Ouya, OnLive and the rumoured Steam console will fair against PS3 and Xbox next year in terms of gaming. I suspect the new PS and XBox will be sold as a media box, rather than a gaming console.
Also, what is interesting to note that Julie Uhrman stated that consoles will die and be replaced by being integrated into the TV. And yet they are releasing a console...wonder what the strategy behind that is....
I am reading this story right, aren't I?
looks good, runs android, good price (only £50 more than your average cheapy cheap chinese ones), I personally think this might do rather well. At least compared to Chromebook.
this is why Chromebooks haven't taken off as well as I expected...
it'll be fine. ALL of your problems will be ironed out when you upgrade to Windows 8....
No phone number, no email address, just a sh*tty support request app in their 15 year old site that sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't.
If there was ever an example of corporate bullying and arrogance, this would be a fine one to use.
I haven't seen any of these yet in this thread of comments
EA have done this before...
I believe the Mercenaries 2 servers have been switched off due to lack of interest.
EAs behaviour is disgusting.
I missed Empire and Napolean...
but Medieval II was by far my favourite of the series.
Up until Shogun 2 came out. And then Fall of the Samurai just made it a million times better.
What a game.
By the way, The Creative Assembly have said that they are looking to release an Android port for this app, so all hope has not failed yet for Android users.
War of the Worlds
Still can't believe some voted for this.
As a big WotW / H G Wells / Jeff Wayne fan, I was wary when the Americans got hold of this classic H G Wells Victorian novel, but really Spielberg didn't do a bad job in the end...certainly better than The Asylum + Pendragon versions
Totally lovely the way you get Gran Turismo 5 and Killzone 3, and the promo pic advertises Motorstorm Apocalypse :)
...and is the best music workstation out there and it continues to get better. 6.5 with the Rack Extensions kit is going to be awesome.
If I owned an iPad, I would be buying this right now. But I don;t, so boo for me.
No Windows Media Player on RT?
Thats random, right? I guess we will just download WinAmp or similar from the "Windows Store".
Talking of that, did anyone else notice that Windows Store is available on all three versions? I wonder if there will be a GP that will disable that from the Metro UI so that employees and workers don't spend their lunchtime downloading unwanted apps that will no doubt diminish productivity.
Talking of THAT, what about this reset and refresh your PC button? A good idea and all, but as an IT support company, I am envisaging many of our clients calling to tell us it broke so they pushed the "Reset your PC" button and now everything has gone....
I'm sure it will all be fine.....
PC Gaming a Niche activity?
I do not consider my 200+ hours on Shogun 2 Total War a 'niche' activity
Whats wrong with the router?
Most if not all routers these days have filters. Most ISP customers get their routers 'free' from their ISP. If they want to block porn / gambling / terrorist sites, just stick the filter on the router and password protect it. Even the ISP can do this. None of this 'request access' rubbish.
I mean, I would be embarrassed phoning up my ISP to request access to porn.
Not that I'm saying I would...if this gets implemented...I was just using it as an example...
*slowly slips away and gets his coat*
...a story about Game going into administration without the pun "Game Over".
If you can't beat them...
...join them? I suspect Game will offer (should they get a new buyer) their own Steam / Origin / OnLive Service, and they're advantage over the competitor is that if you don't want the download, pop in store for the physical media.
That's what I'd be doing anyway. Maybe I should buy Game, I've got a tenner in wallet. Do I get change?
"..violation of company policies related to mismanagement of company assets and vendor procurement"
Obviously they had Google Apps accounts.
Well, I'm sorry to say...
...you were unsuccessful in getting the job.
Why? What!? Because I don't have a Facebook account?
One of the best films of all time
Loved watching this when I was kid, I struggled to find the DVD but my good lady eventually found one.
Wasn't there a remake / sequel due for release, or was that canned?
I do own a PS3...
and I have had no trouble with the iPlayer, works brilliantly. Not sure what this losing connection issue is when pausing...
Did you mean "(logos are shit)"?
Will it recognise certain 'hand gestures' from within the cockpit I wonder
Re: Hate it - I have a 24" monitor not a 10" tablet!
"The server version better not have this stupid interface otherwise Microsoft have shot themselves in the nuts."
You're right, it probably won't. From what I've heard, you'll be saying goodbye to a GUI!
Another great reason...
why I deleted my Facebook account and not to use Bing.
I wonder how SEO companies are dealing with this whole idea of search results being influenced by other factors.
"It cuts through the clutter of the web, providing an up-to-the-minute view of breaking trends and the hottest social conversations, what people are saying about them, and why they matter."
Three tabs - Tweetdeck, Facebook and Google *sorry*, Bing.
Wow, my browser is so cluttered. I just don't know I've coped.
...is a strange place where many a strange thing happens.
Greetings from Portsmouth :)
I was tempted....
until I found out I would have to pay an extra 92p for the box of crisps. Totally not worth it now.
Yes, will microsoft give back those unused funds when the points system finally dies? it may be the odd £1-£2 or so for each user, but if each user has, on average, £1 unused (is that around 80 points from memory?), how many millions of XBox users?
Looking at the track...
The guy on the inside has a real unfair advantage as he has less to travel than the outside track. Inside has 3 inside corners, while the outside track only has 2.
...a Jaguar to me.
Better call the Earth Defence Force
Still using Props Reason though
I don't suppose anyone noticed...
...how many times he tweeted yesterday?
He'll have to cut down on that if he is to continue the "great man's' work.
My father is the chairman of the Theatre that Pinball Wizard was performed and they invited him back a couple of years back to celebrate the 30th anniversary, alas he wasn't able to come.
Great film, he will be missed!
The way I see it is....
lets say one of my clients says "If I buy one of these Chromebooks, can I still use Microsoft Office (the client as most people are still getting used to this office in the cloud thing" No. "Can my son play his games on it?" No. "Photoshop?" Nope. Already its not sounding like a great idea to them.
Also, as good as the Chrome advert was, it wasn't actually selling Chromebooks. It was selling the idea of the cloud which is still a bizarre concept to many. I actually didn't realise you could buy Chromebooks until I read this story.
But the perception I get from users is "Saving office documents to the internet, with stories floating around about Sony and such like getting hacked? Forget it.". Shame because I like Docs, I like it a lot. There's loads of great apps in the cloud, but as long as Apple keep plugging their overpriced tablets its going to be tough.
@Greg J Reece
With the presence of Steam, I can no longer justify purchasing any game over £20 these days. I can't believe I have 10+ games that have so far easily given me 100+ hours of gameplay for the same price as MW3.
The only real classic I saw there was....
Monkey Island, which was a great game then, and the remake was very cool. Also allowed you to switch between old and new.
However, I would get really excited if Lucasarts decide to return to Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle. Now THEY were classics and deserver a makeover that Monkey Island got.
