2016 just got a tiny bit longer. Gee, thanks, time lords

Re: I don't see what the fuss is about

Hopefully no one rolls their own time functions these days. The problem is when you use the time. You might find things happening twice, or two events having the same timestamp or causality appearing to be broken (if time went backwards briefly). Depending on your system this might be "super bad".

I think the crux of it is you tend to assume time goes inexorably forward. It doesn't do that with a positive leap second (if you convert out of UTC).

Re: OK here's a fix....

I was thinking about wheel speed sensors. I think they tend to turn in the air making it a bit fiddlier (especially after a bounce). That said you can have one on each wheel to try correlate.

Can't argue with strain gauges though. Cheap, reliable, really cheap. Only someone with literally no engineering experience wouldn't think of that. I have nothing but contempt for their chief engineer.

Re: BBC radio

It used to work through tunein. It WAS wildly unreliable and the search didn't really work but it was there. The BBC in their infinite wisdom decided to wrap those in hls as well so they don't work at all now. By the sounds of it they are going to move to dash soon anyway and all this can start again.

BBC radio

Shame they can't be bothered getting BBC radio working properly again. Live streams have been the crappy low bit rate mp3 ones (with no sport) and iplayer has been completely dead since feb. As usual sonos are too cool to bother telling anyone when they might bother to fix it.

Oh well, at least it was cheap....oh wait

Thumb Up

fine on ion

It works fine and doesn't get hot. I've got one plugged into a Eee Box EB1012U using WMC7 and HD is flawless. You've got to have the ion though, software decoding doesn't work well on an atom.
