They do if you shout loud and slow enough.
Nha it just means that Geoff Goldblooms Mac attack on the alien ship would have worked....
I'll Get me space suit :p
Matt I live and work in the UK, I work for one of the largest Employer in Liverpool who is one of the most profitable company's in the UK, so please don't make assumptions.
I am a Federalist as it is the only way forward, we have a great past but now we are a small wet rock of the Coast of Europe and the way forward is unification or we stand alone and fall.
I Fully support the Federalization of the EU, it's something I have wanted to see for a long time.

God I love that sub heading.
I am glad we have big phones back, the trend for tiny phones war rediculous when your 6ft 6in tall like me and your using a phone that small you hold it with your thumb and for finger through no choice of your own makes you look like a prat.
Kinda off topic.
Is it just me or I Larry Ellison one of the least Charming CEO's in the history of computing, I know he has some competition but I can not find any redeeming trait in the man, nor warmth or soul.
Re: Let's play DMCA
The US recently said something along the lines of - .com and .net are American and thus American laws apply.
Re: "21.01 million kilometres"
I have to say Sir that is one impressive pasta based calculation.
Jeebus that was very well put.
Re: What will this be sued for?
Damn it! Just noticed that.... damn lack of Edit button.
What will this be sued for?
Is it some form of patient or staff tracking to know who was there at what time, or is it for stuff like tracking medicine despnsary carts and alike?
That is worrying, I myself up until the other week posted on a Tech site that was mostly US user based and on a Discussion about healthcare costs the NHS got dragged into it... let's just say I asked for ym account to be deleted when this got posted -
"Why should I pay for some fat *****'s heath care when her and her little ********* sit's on her ass eating cake all day", the second word I stared out was rhymes with Piglets only with the P replaced with a N.
While I would normally wave off that one comment as a racist, arrogant and above all idiotic statement from one user but when 20 of them all joined in agreeing with it and one or two disagreeing I left, and fast.
I think we can blame McCarthy for this mess, that man did more ongoing damage to the US than any one else I can think of.
I am not exactly sure where I read this quote and I know for a fact I am not quoting verbatim but, "The Chinese are not brilliant innovators, they are just exceptionally good at mimicry". I would tent to agree with that I am not saying that on a individual person to person level they are not great as at innovating, but as a nation they seem to let others do the heavy lifting then add a little extra to make what ever it is work right for them.
I am also kind of recalling something on QI, about how the early Chinese technological development stalled because they didn't discover glass and favoured ceramics.
Anyway I hope things reform in China, but some of the recent crack downs make it less likely it will happen any time soon or be pain free.
Re: UK buyers .... Best Buy
Yes we did have best buy stores in the UK but I think I recall a story a while ago that said they are winding down operations in the UK, but hey we still have the Carphone warehouse.
Why just why? If this was in the £100 range I could see a interest from light users but at this price you can go out and buy a real laptop with far more functionality.
Re: It used to be a dollar a foot
@ Tapeador, That wouldn't be The Swinging arm would it? Horrible boozer, put's The Swan on my side of the River to shame.
Isn't he just talking about basic propaganda but just distributed over the net? Isn't there a protocol for that POIP, Propaganda Over Internet Protocol.
The glasses are the main barrier to adoption, people want to plonk down in front of the box pick up the remote and enjoy watching the TV, they don't want to put on a special set of glasses to do so.
If they are able to get the 3D experience without the glasses and it's decent quality it could take off but in-till the goggles go by by this wont be a success.
BYOD = Bean Counter Heaven.
Let's be honest the whole idea of BYOD is lead by bean counters who see IT as a nasty regular overhead, anything they can do to reduce that cost will be pushed hard.
It's only a matter of time till the first serious Data breach in a BYOD environment due to a compromised machine and the user will be lambasted in the press for "lax security practices" buy the employer looking to weasel out of responsibility.
Re: The sooner Farcebook goes tits up...
I whole heartedly agree.
The cracks are showing up at a inconvinent time for Facebook, and Zuck knows this that's why the IPO is happening now so he is still able to cash out before this bubble starts to burst an FB becomes the next Friends reunited, MySpace, Bebo etc.
Also when it does go tit's up Rory on the BBC tech blog might have to find something new to blog about...
So my rump steak will now come pre cooked and with laser holes in it, and when driving through the country side we are going to see cows flying through the air powered by there own farts?
The future is here!
Re: Naughty, naughty
Hehe you said "Norks"...
Now I can picture little Kimmy chasing round some sexy Korean women to the Benny Hill tune....
So much possibility so far till payday :(
It's already happend.
Look lets be honest, .com an .net are treated by the US are there TLD's, and with this massive fragmentation of the internet thats going to happen a .eu TLD open to EU owned companies makes sense.
Hell I am considering moving my TLD's from .com to .co.uk and .eu one is about 8 years old and is a simple blog with about 3 regulars, one is a site I take care of for a friend who is a photographer (both are .com's) two are .net one is a joke site I own intended as a joke for a few friends who are in on the joke and the other is another joke for work about the weekly kebab night I registered last year, the last one is a .co.uk I got for a couple of quid that's redirected to a .com.
Not a vastly huge domain collection but I am personally worried that I may post something that will annoy some one and my non commercial content an domain might be ceased by the US government (also don't help I am hosting with a US based company on a eu server). As such I am considering the TLD move as I dont want to piss off the 3rd most temperamental government in the world.
The tip of this pustule is getting ready to burst in a spectacular fashion.
The Chinese guy from south park read that out loud in my mind.
That's a woops moment right there.
Re: Linus makes but better people don't?
Yea DMR needs to be on that list, hell I suspect that BSD would be dominating the web world over Linux if it wasn't for the licence nastiness that gone on in the 90's and the early comp-sci bubble period grads using linux in server farms.
The ONLY penalty that would work with Phone and Txt driving that would work is banning ownership of a mobile phone or use of for X months, years or life. I.E. first offense ban of owning a Phone for 3 months if you call or txt while driving, 2nd a 2 year ban on owning a phone etc.
As some one who has been nearly ran over by some one txting while driving I am all for it.
Re: Those who do not learn from the past...
You sir deserve a internet!
Good on that girl!
I hope if he does get them off the sea bed and into a exhibit they end up doing a travelling show, of them I would love to see them.
I do believe it is.
The first thing I though of when I saw this was the recent South Park episode.
If he can pull this off.
Then he can sign me up, I don't care if it's only one way and I have to hard manual graft at the other end day in day out.
I think they value it like this -
They take the known average street value, they then add the officers time then, investigation and court costs and then destruction cost (normally incineration) to come up with the $800 total.
well there is 1.47 AK 47's in the world for every human alive right now so we need to rectify this Jeebus, I officially declare this brand season OPEN!!!!
Something seriously fucking wrong with society...
I am with Vic on this one 26K attempts is probably the total number of packets sent and not atchual attempts at a compromise.
@ Gene Cash, Looks like some one has been reading XKCD.
David Tennant was the best doctor of all time if you ask me, Smith is well just awful a pathetic attempt at a doctor, I can't even watch a episode with him in it because quite frankly I bleed from my anus when I try.
IP vs Brand.
To be honest I think this is more a case of Apple saying "Well we own the i... Branding and we have used the iPad as part of our over all product which preexists prior to this trade marks inception ergo we have not intentionally infringed on a trade mark"
Having said that I still think apple should say "Opp's our bad" and pay them off to use it, but sadly that is not the apple way, but I feel that this little pseudo iMac would lend credence to Apple counter suing them over IP infringement as the original iMac for it's time was a damned unusual design that looked good.
Either way the whole IP war has just got silly, seriously how can a physical gesture be trade marked or patented, the TV my folks had till I was 12 used a sliding motion to raise and lower the volume and that was a Toshiba are they going to try and pwn apple over it?
I don't see this working well for a whole load of reasons.
I am guessing this is a way for MS to sell more locked in to the device software i.e. get them with the arm then they wont move because it would take to much time / investment to move to another vendor, then MS will also control the upgrade time line for a lot of places, "want office 100? Sure wait your on the arm version arnt you right you will need to upgrade most of your workstations to the newer model" etc.
Not to mention this will hobble a lot of systems, we saw it with the netbook fad a few years back cheep low powered systems that sell for the £200 mark that work fine for about a month then people complain about them being slow, or to small, and that badly made they make a sand castle at high tide look positively robust.
I don't see how this is going to end well for MS,.
I now have a mental image of some poor guy carrying a small mountain of cat5 box's, having the worst day of his life.
Right if we all throw in we could afford one, then use it to deliver beer... RIGHT TO YOUR HAND!!
I want one :)
Kinda reminds me of the ones in DAEMON, I like the idea though I really like the idea.
It's nice to see some form of social media taking security seriously, I am not a fan of social networking but I have to say twitter is impressing me at the moment.
@ David W. I read a interview about Moxie a while ago, apparently it is his chosen name i.e. one he prefares to go by, but is "real" on his birth certificate name is known to a hand full of people outside his family. Some one in the comments pointed out with his sailing history / experience it's no wonder he took the name Marlinspike as it's a really useful tool, it looks like a freaking huge sewing needle made from metal about 6 - 12 in long wiki has a picture that put's it much better http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Marlinespike-hitch-ABOK-2030.jpg
I have said it before.
... and will say it again, Win mobile has never been a success before why did people have high hopes for it this time?
I freely admit I don't own or use windows mobile now but in the past I have and wasn't impressed, and reading the reviews of win7 mobile I am even less impressed.
Just as a aside - I am no fan of embedded apps you can't remove, Games, Facebonk, twitter etc just annoy me and put me off the phone. I would rather have a phone shipped to me with a stock clean OS that I can tweak to my liking with applications I use. Then again what am I saying hardware OEM's have always bundled crap with there hardware.
- Mounties always get their man: Heartbleed 'hacker', 19, CUFFED
- Analysis Oh no, Joe: WinPhone users already griping over 8.1 mega-update
- Leaked pics show EMBIGGENED iPhone 6 screen
- AMD demos 'Berlin' Opteron, world's first heterogeneous system architecture server chip
- OK, we get the message, Microsoft: Windows Defender splats 1000s of WinXP, Server 2k3 PCs
