Re: Gun ownership.
Its always the same -
- "I need a gun to protect my self because x,y,z might have a gun"
- "Russia have a really big bomb see we need a bigger bomb to stop them using their bomb"
If no one had guns you wouldn't need guns to protect against guns - Yes the UK has strict laws on guns so knife crime is really high - but no knife/golf club/ bat welding nut job has ever gone into a school or street and killed 10-100s of people. You can also run away from some one with a bat or knife not so much with a gun.
So tell me, what country is safer, the one where almost everyone can freely own a gun or the one where a tinny % can and are heavily controlled. If the USA had a gun amnesty type thing and had similar laws to the UK - violent crime deaths would drop by 90% over night.

Re: "it is what we all expected deep down"
I think they're going about this all wrong: As one approaches the speed of light all energy is converted to mass and time dilates relative to your speed.
So what if scientists stopped working on going fast and started working on going slow?
If the inverse was to occur as an object approaches the direct opposite of the speed of light i.e. all mass would be converted to energy.
Relativity says it is impossible for an object with mass to travel faster than light. What if by slowing to a stationary speed ones mass becomes energy. One could then, in a state of pure energy without mass, travel at the speed of light or faster.
Re: Tax payer to Government to NHS to Government funded by the Tax Payer.
"Employ people that do the job properly."
This is going to be hard when Gov pay's 25-50% below market average for internal techs then remove the gold plated pension. Or outsource to companies that are only profit driven and not driven to supply the best service possible.
The reason why all public needed services should be government run at even or small profit. Paris because that's obviously a dumb idea.
I thinks its every thing they don't like is the devil.

To quote Hugh Laurie....
.....every one lies.
And on Dating websites every lies so much they almost inadvertently go all the way round to telling the truth.
A long wait
I predict the year 2215... but which time we will all be telepathically linked by BrainFi the next evolution in mobile communication.

Re: What timeline?
"not easy when most friends insist on running their social lives through the site"
This is the only reason I still have it - It now seems that the unthinkable act of a phone call to ask if you would like to go out has become a sacrilegious act.
I would search for new friends, but I've invested too much time in them to just throw them away, but its getting close.
Hahaha, so the silly little buggers couldn't get the stats to fit their propaganda peddling BS!
Il get my coat as I suspect winter will still be cold and summer will still be hot.
China holding trillions of $ is a problem and something no other country would be aloud to do. But who's powerful enough to stop them? If they let the cash back into the market they could cripple the US.
Re: DDoS BT?
Whats silly is if it worked, they would disconnect themselves and in so stop the attack - and Virgin also use BT backbone infrastructure.
Re: Deja vu from recent Reg headlines
I think what happened was all those ideas came up and Jobs shot them down saying 'over my dead body'
Re: Poetry
Hah, I used to use telephone numbers and substitute the numbers for letters for old style text phones
2= abc, 3= def ..... every repeat number in the string was the next letter
07485558471 = 0pgtjkluhq1
but now just used 16+ length paraphrases
Re: Honestly...
If a ship is going to only travel in space, use a most efficient shape i.e. a circle or square would be best
There is no resistance in space, so resistance is futile!
Re: Deep Fried Chips
Also the first person's to die from eating to many of them.
At that price point you can buy a very good projector and have 300" HD picture and paint your screen on the wall
Nokia had the right idea....
..... with the nokia 9210. Phone on the out side, then unfold for large screen and full(ish) keyboard.
They can now make it a touch screen.
Re: Yahoo! - the comedy gift that just keeps on giving :-)
Their fall from grace has been both hilarious and kind of disappointing.
Why this is a stupid idea
Lots of Bee's, fly, bugs get stuck in my conservatory and cant work out their trying to fly through a solid transparent object. They then proceed to spend all their energy trying to fly through said object and die from exhaustion.
This is not a good model to base computing sight based decision making from.
Re: In the US, with its less densely packed streets
Don't most US pedestrians have built in air bags ?

......Ballmer while sitting on a wall sees his reflection in some Windows. Having a paper clip moment recognises his likeness to Humpty Dumpty; he then jumps off the wall before All the king's stakeholders and all the king's coder-men wont be able to put poor MS back together again.

The one spelled correctly will be the propaganda post.
And all patient data to be online by 2015!!

These companies should also invest in housing and build bunkers around their data centers to house all the online community that want low response times for they're l33t FPS skillz
Re: Much as it pains me
I'm with Gordon 10 on this.
However much I want to hate BT - their the only company that can an will spend money on massive infrastructure investment (even if lots of it comes from the government)
If at first you don't succeed...
......spend a few billion and fail again.
Smiley face because I'm an optimist.
Re: Again?
i.e. a small number of people make crap fulls of money at the expense of many
Re: Catch-22
because 80 million people came outside or stopped looking at their mobile phones.
the irony of that comment coming from such a big dumb guy
"....... their policy that anyone can be a member and nobody knows who is or who isn't"
That didn't seem to be how it was for the number of members that got ratted out by one of their own.
Not only do they not understand "hypocrisy" but they also miss the meaning of "Anonymous" -
- wait maybe they do understand the meaning of both.
I need a bear.
Re: bit harsh innit
Yep you'd probably get a suspended sentence as well.

Its because it has a calculable revenue stream so people can't BS the price into the stratosphere.
