'Nutjob' serves half-baked Raspberry PI scam

Re: Big man

Presumably there's also someone forcing them to work in call centres, what a situation

Purlieu

Cold calls

At our house we get cold calls of course, but we compete with each other to see how fast you can get the caller to tell you to fuck off (or equivalent).by stinging them along and unsubtle remarks.

Also, when I get a thick Indian accent come on and say "hello my name is Margaret" I usually reply with "that's funny mine's Deepak"

Re: slowing down

The police have always maintained that the primary purpose of speed cameras is to slow the traffic down, so your point is ??

Purlieu

Re: UV

sorry yes I meant to say IR ... I always get them mixed up

but not as mixed up as making the jump to saying that I don't pay road tax ???

Purlieu

UV

ANPR and SPECS use UV light bounced of the micro-dimples in the numberplate.

So factor 50 should do it, allegedly.

Purlieu

Deployment

Originally the police had difficulty deploying ANPR since the equipment was rather large and they couldn't find a big enough bush.

Purlieu

There's "retained" and "backed up"

Sorry but "more than 7 billion" and "some 7.6 billion" are so vague as to be meaningless, or even he same thing in practice. I suggest that the information is retained for all time, just not necessarily on the "live" database.

Re: re: frogmarch off the premises

I was referring to systems larger than PC servers. Also if he's half decent he can cover his tracks log-wise. Or not get logged in the first place.

Purlieu

re: frogmarch off the premises

You know you are leaving long before you tell the employer. This gives plenty of time to "back up" anything you feel might be "useful" to you. let them frogmarcj you out, safe in the knowledge that you already got what you wanted out of there 2 weeks ago. And yes, that password changing exercise is good advice, I would also add video it on your phone as well (without capturing the actual keystokes of course)

We're gradually being driven offline. You can hardly say boo in case some prude gets "offended". Like being offended gives them extra rights somehow. Then there's avoiding saying something about Robin Hood Airport etc. Any why is it these days that whatever happens, somebody has to go to jail?

Re: Fail

What I said was that the article says that the valleys have been in existence for millions of years, and so has the water-flow paths etc.

So why did this phenomenon suddelny start contributing to "global warming" yesterday morning ?

That's the codswallop bit.

Purlieu

Fail

Surely the rift valleys etc that have been there for millions of years didn't suddely decide a few years ago to start "doing their bit to speed up the melting of the ice". What a load of codswallop.

Chip and PIN keypads 'easily fooled' with counterfeit cards

Purlieu

re: Levels of card fraud are at their lowest since 2000.

Chip and Pin was rolled out in the UK in 2004 so that statement is saying that fraud levels have now reached the same low level that they were at in 2000 which of course is _before_ chip and pin was introduced
