Met ready to cough £150m to IT bods who'll help coppers go digital

earlyjester

Many many many years ago, a police force had problems booting a server with a certain very old OS (they openly admitted they had done something wrong during the install), they would not allow remote access and did not want someone going onsite due to security.

They offered to send us the server which they did. On receipt it did have a boot error, but this was different to the reported one, they had taken out the HDD with the bodged install and destroyed it.

We sent them the chassis back, they put in a new drive and installed the OS which worked fine and they were very happy with the service they received from us.

i.e. you may not want to rely on the internal expertise.....

Ab phab: Apple is Britain's coolest brand YET AGAIN

earlyjester

Re: Oh dear

No no no.... it doesn't just work, you have to set it up then like any operating system you have bugs, security issues, apps that crash, wifi issues, maps problems, design flaws.

This is apple marketing at its finest that I hear people quote even after they have had issues.

I would like to say no one released products that don't work but I have been in the industry to long to say silly things.

Apple, Intel, Google told to stop being tightwads and pay out MORE in wage-fix settlement

earlyjester

Can we all get in on this, my company pays at market rates (so they say....) if these companies kept salaries lower than they should have been then has everyone in my company been affected.

Most companies have a market rate pay policy so the number of people this could have affected is crazy.

Re: Wait...

A very good point, for years a company I worked for told me my pay was in line with Market rate, if the market rate was checked against these companies that were keeping the market rate lower can I have a bucket of money?
